Day 5

So it was back to reality once the family got home. A nice reality having my loved ones around me but a reality that includes the word "MUM" shooting through the atmosphere about every 2 minutes and me either responding physically or verbally in a stop, start manner to the point that I just cover my ears, sit on my haunches and rock back and forth like a caged animal. The golden silence was definitely broken and the need for mummy resilience quickly reinstated.

So with my husband in front of the computer all night catching up on the work he'd missed due to the coast trip, the kids and I decided to cuddle up on the couch to watch a family movie. They then piled into my bed and we all read until we fell asleep. Daddy resigned himself to the spare room. I awoke this morning to the sound of Darby's voice "what are we doing today Mum?" Indeed. What are we doing today? It is officially the last day of the school holidays (if you don't count the weekend) and of course the kids want it to be a day to remember! In my half conscious state I couldn't quite create a day of adventure so deferred the planning phase until breakfast.

I am seriously tired. Surely I am not still recovering from the 40th party? Surely! I am on day 5 of the new age and I feel 100. Fatigue. That's the only word to describe it. So with a tall glass of Berocca and a vitamin pill I dived into the day with as much gusto as I could muster and it lasted all of 35 minutes. But that was enough to create a day of fun and adventure for two eager little mites who sit at my feet looking at me like expectant puppies.

So with that done I sit at my computer attempting to work on my next project as the offspring whiz around me in their individual games of dragon slayer and Australia's next top model. Unfortunately the dragon slayer has just crash tackled the model off her catwalk so that's my cue to sign off. Crap. I think the model just ripped off the slayer's left foot. Now slayer is pantsing the model. Gotta go. I did get a whole 17 minutes to myself though! I am calling in the backup squad .... Husband is on his way home to take them swimming in his lunch break ... Just in time for me to get ready for my client.

Gotta love the kids! Gotta love them. Gotta love that school starts back on Monday.
