Day 7

Today is a day full of cheer! Cheerleaders that is. Did I mention that during the year of fulfilling my before 40 goals I set up a cheer squad? Yeah well, my daughter had been hounding me for years to do cheerleading but since it wasn’t a big thing in Australia it was kind of hard to find a club. So after one of our trips to the USA where she became the honorary member of the Bath Lions I gave in at a weak moment and offered to coach some of her friends “just for fun”. That has turned into a full on competitive squad of 10 year olds and one 40 year old coach who has absolutely no idea what she is doing! Somehow I am coach, manager, choreographer and stunt coordinator with absolutely no credentials, coordination or creativity. The crazy thing is the girls haven’t worked that out yet and think I am the best thing since Bring It On! So after a very cheerful year, today we head to our state championships where we are hoping to bring home another trophy to add to the two already sitting in the school cabinet. Did I say that cheerleading wasn't a big thing? Who knew! We seem to have entered right at the growth of competitive cheering as it steps out of the baby phase right into toddlerdom. Despite our success the girls have started to outgrow this coach so it is time to get jiggy with it and rock the house right! I have signed up for Street Funk classes so look out little cheer chicks because Madam Cheer is goin’ hip hop. I secretly always wanted to be a cheerleader you know …

Gotta go. It’s time to get my pom poms out …
