Day 201

I AM BACK ON MY PHONE DUE TO MORE COMPUTERISED TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. SO I AM YELLING AGAIN. SORRY. NOT MUCH TO TALK ABOUT TODAY. ITS OUR LAST DAY IN NOOSA. WE HEAD HOME TOMORROW. I MAY TALK TO YOU MORE LATER IF I'M NOT SPLAT ON THE BEACH. CIAO FOR NOW.

A few hours later:

Ahhhh. I definitely went splat on the beach today. The weather is perfect. Sun, sun, sun and warm, warm, HOT!

My-husband-my-hero (who sometimes wears a Labrador costume) custom made a beach lounge for me out of sand which created the perfect splat environment. He really is very good at it. Making beach lounges I mean (plus he is also good at being a Labrador). He gets on all fours (in a very Labrador like way) and grabs armfuls of sand, dragging it towards him to create a mountain, and then he gets his front paws into shovels and flicks sand through his back legs to create a big dip for my big bum. I then put my towel over it, nestle my arse in the hole and lean against the mountain. It is perfect for this little bulldog! He should patent it. The Labrachair ... or the Beachadore ... or the BeachLab. Yep. The perfect sunlounge, for the perfect Noosa day.

I can't believe we are on the last day of our great escape. The week has been truly wonderful, and relaxing, and fulfilling, and to be honest it hasn't gone particularly quick which is nice, but it's still a little sad when a great vacation comes to an end. It's feeling particularly sigh-worthy given this is it for this year. No more sun chasing for the Langdowns in 2010. We were due to spend our winter escape in the USA with my soul sista in July but we had to cancel due to finances. It's been three years since I've been over there and I am starting to hyperventilate with home-sicknesses for Pennsylvania - my second home. More about that later though. It is a story that needs to be told ...

Right now I am enjoying my last piece of sunny warmth before we head south for our Canberra winter. I am going to miss the hot sun. It has been very kind to us this week arriving whenever we asked for it, and disappearing when it was time for our holiday nanna naps. I would like to believe that we did conjur it up through manifesting, but the reality is that Noosa is like that. The locals tell us that in the autumn/winter months you carry sunscreen and an umbrella at all times because you'll need to use both in a day.

I can tell you one thing. I ain't going to miss those bloody stairs!! I know, I know, I was bragging at the beginning of the week that if my knees were up to it I would be sprinting up them. Bugger that. My knees are starting to recover and there is no way I want to be sprinting those suckers. I tried a half hearted jog upwards one day and almost died. My knees, the degree of the angle, my newly acquired pot belly and 200 freaking stairs almost did me in. Having 3 weeks off boot camp has made me terribly unfit (or has it been 4 weeks?). Shit. There is exactly 200 stairs built into the hillside connecting Upper Hastings street (and our apartment) with the main street and the beach down below. 200 freaking stairs!! 200 stairs both up and down. 200 stairs that you have to climb up at the end of a beach session. 200 stairs you have to carry your shopping up. 200 stairs you have to ascend after one too many drinks in the Surf Club below. 200 extremely unfriendly very steep stairs .... 200! Did you hear me? 200!!!!

Nope, not going to miss the stairs. But I am going to miss the sunshine, the escape and the BeachLab. Plus I am also going to miss my reading. Yep, after tomorrow it is back to reality.

And back to being a bulldog and stalking the publishers ...
