Day 224

Oh look, someone has handed me today’s diary entry on a platter. I have been handed a list of questions to answer! Lovely. Thanks for the escape hatch ….

What do you do when you’re bored?

Bored? I don’t often get bored. But in times where I suddenly have nothing much to concentrate on I sleep, or watch LOL sit coms such as Raymond, Home Improvement, Friends, or read, or sit outside in the fresh air and breathe.

Are you an autumn, or a spring?

I really do like Autumn but the sun has to be shining. It can be as cold as anything, but I like some blue in my sky. If it’s grey out there I’ll pack up my uggies and crawl under the covers until spring.

Quick! You’re stuck at an airport for hours, and the only options are crossword puzzle, or an old novel nobody’s ever heard of. Which would you pick?

I’d give the novel a go but if it didn’t capture me in the first few pages I’d just sit and stare at the world going by and create a new novel in my mind using the airport people as characters.

Jane Austen or Emily Bronte?

Oh man, really? Do I have to choose one? Shivers are going through me as I recall having to read old fart novels in English with a teacher who made my life hell. I’m sorry Jane and Emily but being taught by a teacher who would pull me down, make me cry, and spit me out (we called her “the London bus on legs”) has meant I can’t choose either of you. I’ll make it my life mission though to try again … I’ll put you on my bucket list.

Who’s your hero?

Hmmm. Tough one. I have different heroes for different periods of my life and various life circumstances. I usually take courage from people who have been through major life struggles and powered through them with energy, determination and victory. Like my Mum with Leukemia, friends with breast cancer or Gill Hicks who had her legs blown off in the London bombings. At the moment though I find parents dealing with childhood challenges such as illness, autism and Aspergers to be very heroic. As a mum paving her own life while trying to raise a family I understand that it can be tough, but to do that with these extra challenges in downright freaking incredible. YOU are my heroes today. (Oh, and Jessica Watson comes a close second for using the word ACTION to follow her dream.)

Favourite word?

Joy. It’s the fun part of my success formula: Joy + Action = Success.

Are you one of those “checklist” people, or are you a “wing it and hope everything goes well” sort of person?

Checklists all the way. I have lists in my diary, in my journal, I have my daily activity schedule, then there is the family whiteboard and the shopping list. However, when we go on holidays I scrap all my lists and just float …

What phrase has stuck with you in your life?

“If you believe, you will achieve”. And then there’s “yeah right” and “Oh My GOD” (said in that nasal Janet voice from Friends). Oh …. Can I choose another one? I love the quote by Sarah Henderson “if there is no light at the end of the tunnel then go down there and light the bloody thing yourself”.

If you were to choose between coffee and tea. . . which would you go with?

I haven’t had a cup of coffee in 15 years. I am a tea drinker all the way! Speaking of which, it’s time to have one now.

So that’s me in a nutshell folks! (Look at me, look at me, I’m in a nutshell – Austin Powers.) Thanks for passing this questionnaire to me!! And as a result I have another award to hang on my blog wall. Thanks heaps y'all!!! Will pass on to someone else in the next couple of days.

Happy Sunday!
