Day 298

Migraine.

Again.

Nausea.

Dehydration.

Gastro.

Self inflicted.

No, not alcohol.

Food.

Attack of the killer tomatoes.

As a result I have a case of the fuckity fuckits.

Drinking loads of water.

Trying to flush system.

I have suffered migraine since a kid. I get different types. Hormonal, stress, food, referred body pain and "just because". This is a food one. I have food sensitivities. I found out about 8 years ago after 5 years of constant chronic migraine with some lasting up to 3 weeks. I would end up in hospital getting morphine injections to break the cycle. Anyway, 8 years ago the issues extended to gut and bowel. I would drive to work with a bucket on my lap vomiting. To cut a long story short (yes, I can actually do short stories occasionally) after a barrage of tests I ended up at a dietitian who declared I was a text book example of someone with intolerance's to amines, salicilates and MSG. Roger that. Ended up on a massive cleansing diet. Ate nothing but fresh steak, potatoes and cabbage for a month. Thank the Lord we have two toilets. Cabbage is wicked. Husband joined me for a while in support. He gave it away after a week of severely unsociable toilet behaviour. (Unsociable toilet behaviour? can toileting be social? Stupid thing to say). Once we identified my food intolerance's many of my migraines disappeared! Magic. But here I am with a food related migraine again. Why? Because I got complacent and thought I might be cured or something. Did you know that tomatoes are like a natural form of MSG? Well, apparently they are. My family loves spaghetti bolognese. I cook it for them and I eat something different. Usually. Last night I didn't. Last night I looked the tomatoes in the eye and said "bring it on!!!" And they did.

Migraine.

Nausea.

Dehydration.

Gastro.

Fuckity fuckit.

It's Friday! Time to flog yo blog ...

  1. Oh honey.

    That sux.

I hope that you have a migraine haven complete with blackout curtains, soundproof, and a voluminous bed. Sometimes a eucalyptus ointment behind my ears helps my stress levels/migraines.

Feel better soon and don't be mad at yourself. Everyone tests it to see if things are still off limits.

  2. Oh Leanne I feel your pain. I'm just recovering from one myself. I've had chronic migraines for the last two years, ended up in hospital, etc. I went on an elimination diet a few months ago and I managed to quell them, but it was way too restrictive. With all the current stress in my life I wasn't able to stick with it. I think mine are a combination of diet, hormones and STRESS. Hormones are a big factor. Anyway, sorry to hear you're hurting. Hope you're on the mend soon.
