Day 569

This morning I awoke to a glimmer of hope on the horizon.  There was a burst of sunlight peaking through a cloud. That was enough for me.  Anyone for a walk? No?  Seeya ....

I started walking north along the street.  It was cool and I had my cardigan on.  The path ended so I stepped onto the beach.  As my foot landed on the sand the sun broke through the clouds and opened up to blue sky. I took off my cardy and wrapped it around my waist. I looked right towards Coolangatta and saw the high rises covered in cloud and rain.  I looked left towards Surfer's Paradise and saw the high rises covered in cloud and rain.  But right where I stood and for about 100 metres either side of me was pure blue sky and sunlight.  So I walked.

I walked north towards Surfer's and I kept on walking. The sun followed me the entire way.  I walked and I walked and I walked.  After 20 minutes I stopped and I sat.  The sun stayed with me.  I looked to the right towards Coolangatta and saw the high rises still covered in cloud and rain.  I looked left towards Surfer's Paradise and saw the high rises still covered in cloud and rain.  But right where I sat and for about 100 metres either side of me was pure blue sky and sunlight.  So I sat.

A man with a dog ran past; a couple wandered by; a lady jogged; and an old dude in very baggy Speedos power walked past (were the swimmers baggy or was it the package they were holding that was causing the severe and very crumpled hang?)

I stood up and walked south towards Coolangatta and I kept on walking.  The sun followed me the entire way.  I walked and I walked and I walked.  After 20 minutes I stopped and I looked at the ocean.  The sun stayed with me.  I looked to the right towards Coolangatta and saw the high rises still covered in cloud and rain.  I looked left towards Surfer's Paradise and saw the high rises still covered in cloud and rain.  But right where I stood looking either side of me was pure blue sky and sunlight.  So I looked.

Then it was time to leave.  I walked off the beach and the sun disappeared behind the cloud.  As I sit here typing with my ocean view it is sprinkling rain outside.  But for my time on the beach I had sun. Thank you.

There is hope! There are blue skies and sunshine up there somewhere. You've just got to break through the cloud to find it.
