Day 576

I've been thinking of Elle McPherson a lot lately.  Strange but true ...

I really admire Elle. I've watched her entire career right back from when she was the face of Tab.  I like her because not only does she seem quite down to Earth (for a supermodel) but she is also very Earthy. I love her style.  I love her look. I love her demeanor. I love her body! Sure, she's tall and leggy and tanned and beautiful and has luscious long hair and that all helps, but she also has a casual Earthy presence about her where no matter where she is, what she's doing, or what the occasion, her inner Earth shines through. Plus she's in her 40s and hasn't changed a bit.  Even with all that tanning she's not the least bit deep fried ...

The reason I've been thinking of her is because the holiday-beach-going-Leanne tries to steal a bit of her style.  Yeah, I may not look that good in a bikini, but I'll give that hat a go.  I have a hat just like that. You can buy them in Hawaii for less that $20.  Husband has one too.  And I really quite like the whole string bracelet and anklet thing. See how she is wearing beads and string bracelets all up her arm?  I've noticed she wears them no matter what the occasion.  I haven't quite managed that bohemian cross over from beach babe to glamour puss like she has though.  She seems to walk off the beach, throw on a cocktail frock, shake her hair and walk down the red carpet .... string jewelery and all! My string jewelery comes off as soon as the gold or silver standard sets go on.  For whatever reason I haven't been able to combine Canberra Leanne with Beach Leanne.  Anyway, I've been thinking about her a lot lately and even bought some new beady beach jewelery while I was away ...

I got these beaded charms from a surf shop in Byron Bay on the drive home.  We called into Byron for some extra beach time and a feed as we drove down the coast road to Coffs Harbour.  I couldn't walk past these little gems.  So very Elle McPherson.  I'd show you what they look like on my wrist except the photo of my deep fried wrinkled man hands would ruin the effect proving that, try as I might, I am no Elle Mcpherson.

Oh, and speaking of Elle McPherson (which of course we are because this entire post is dedicated to her) my little Magic Girl Tahlia .... who has the style, shoulders, tan, hair, long limbs and beauty of our Elle ... swims in the state swimming finals today! Yep.  Our mermaid is at it again.  She's extremely nervous. But as we said, the only person she is truly racing against is herself. Without much effort she has made it to the state swimming finals and no one can ever take that away from her.  Anything else that happens today is a bonus ....

PS Not loving the irritable sinus, ugg boots and winter dressing gown being home has given me. I loved walking in to our home yesterday as it gave us a big bear hug, but I could do without this whole autumn/winter thing.  It seriously sucks ... No bohemian beach babes strutting their stuff around here that's for sure ...

  2. Go Talia!

I love Byron, especially the shopping. Think I'll have to hit the next market weekend.

And I think you can totally pull off the Elle thing. Hands down. Just might be a tad cold in your area right now, but it would be talked about...
"Why is she wearing a bikini? Looks good, but the goosebumps sorta spoil the image."

  3. Congratulations to your mermaid!

  4. As long as you remember Elle's God-given natural beauty has help from hair extensions, botox, veneers, fake tan (her own brand none-the-less), designer friends who give her designer clothes & she's snapped with photo-shopped photos, you admire her as much as you like. You, however seem more real & naturally beautiful to me.
