Day 638

You know you're getting old when ...

... one of your kids is getting married!

Well, technically she is not MY child, but she has been part of my life for 17 years so she may as well be.

My step daughter Chelsea is getting married in October of this year. She  and her fiance will both be 23 when they tie the knot and we couldn't be happier.

So today I am getting the invitations prepared, cutting up little maps with directions to go in the envelopes and also getting a little note ready to explain why children are unfortunately unable to attend.  Oh, and let's not forget the gift registry information.  I just await Chelsea's guest list so I can get the address labels sorted.

Then this weekend we head out to check out bridesmaids "frocks" for Miss Tahlia who is super excited  about the whole thing.  Plus we've been investigating wedding cake alternatives - we're looking at a cup cake option plus the possibility of stacking white organza boxes filled with Cadbury's Favourites (chocolates) and positioning them to look like a cake. Isn't that cute?!  A friend of mine did something similar years ago.  Either way Chelsea doesn't want a traditional wedding cake, nor any cake cutting "ceremony" which is just fine with me.

The best part of this wedding is that it is simple.  They are getting married in a garden, having a stand-up cocktail party for the reception, not having any decorations or a major theme going on.  Which is Chelsea I guess ... no frills and fluffs and freak-outs ... just keep things small, simple and slightly off centre.  They're not stuck on tradition, they just want to do their own thing.  Like going on their honeymoon before the wedding for example.  Who said the holiday had to happen after the marriage?

So, isn't that exciting!  Sure feels exciting to me ...

Had the MRI yesterday.  It didn't freak me out at all. In fact I found it quite therapeutic laying there listening to the rhythm of the machine as it did it's thing.  I also took that time to send positive energy to Jen over at Jemikaan as she sits in ICU awaiting news on her father's health.  If you have a moment please pop over to Jen's place and give her a virtual hug.
