Day 771

Did you know that cupboard doors and draws were invented to keep this packed away, out of sight, in a neat and tidy manner?

My husband and kids haven't grasped that concept yet.  I live in a house with doors open, drawers open, lights on, socks scattered, clothes crumpled and shit on display constantly.  Apparently the concept of doors and drawers has managed to bypass them.

I have come to the realisation that I am not compatible with my family.  I am not sure I can live here anymore. I think I may build a granny flat out the back, or buy an apartment, or perhaps relocate them all to the cubby house. Something has got to give before I go completely insane ...

Or maybe buy a mansion by the lake with loads of room for me to escape ...

  1. Oh Gawd. You sound like my husband.

This morning, first he reminded me that he'd put the laundry in the washing machine, but I'd need to hang it out 'cos he had to go to work. Yes, dear.

Next thing, he's back, reminding me that the machine finished, so everything was now folded in the basket, waiting to be hung out.
    Yes, dear.

*FOLDED*. Wet clothes have to be neatly *folded* for the time they spend in the basket between the washing machine and the line?

I've invented in my mind a row of townhouses - one for me, one for hubby, one for the kids. I would allow interconnecting doors. Maybe I would invite hubby and the kids in for dinner, if he took away the laundry in return?
I'd probably have to hire him to come and clean my house though.

  2. I'm so moving out, first chance I get. I'll leave the house of squalor for the kidlets & buy myself a brand spanking clean new place that they will not be allowed to visit. If I seem a little bitter over the crap & mess that I'm forced to live with, it's because I am!

  3. Now I don't have kids - but I do have a granny flat! If you don't mind dodging the lawnmower and boxes yet to be unpacked you can come stay over :)
