Day 836

Today I am grateful for vision, focus, action and state government grants ...

Ok, ok ... mostly I am grateful for state government grants ...

I was cruising around the blogosphere yesterday and came across Jarrah Jungle's 2012 Word.  She's taking part in a New Year's resolution topic to choose a word to best sum up the year she intends to have.  Her word is "DECISION".  For Jarrah Jungle 2012 is all about being more decisive.  She got the idea from the lovely Maxabella who has been doing the "word of the year" for some time.  Maxabella's word is "BETTER".  For Maxabella this year is about striving to do everything that little bit better.  Both are great words, and it is a fantastic idea.

So that got me to thinking.  What would my word for 2012 be?

My initial thought was the word "vision" and that's what I put in the comment box over at Jarrah Jungle.  I decided this year to have 2012 visualisations rather than resolutions so the word for me seemed obvious.  The second word would of course have to be "action" because without it vision is nothing but a dream.  So yeah, that was what I was thinking ...

Then I got a phone call. A very very good phone call.

I got a phone call to say that the ACT State Government has agreed to give me a grant to help me launch my product line.  A product line to help children with self worth, resilience, health and fitness.  THE product line I've been working on for the last six months and THE product line that will help me fulfill my life purpose and leave a legacy for my own kids.  The fact that they believe in my vision is very encouraging. Now that I've got the thumbs up and support from my state, I'm off and running and it's time to get well and truly focused.

Time to change my word.

FOCUS is my word for 2012.

Scattered energy is not going to work.  All my attention needs to be centred on this project.  Like a magnifying glass harnessing the energy of the sun, the only way to light this fire is with a channeled energy.  FOCUS.

So today I put my 2012 vision board together with the word FOCUS front and centre.  Visualisation in important, and action is essential, but focus is the word that is going to keep me ... well ... focused (der).

What's your word for 2012?

While you're at it share it with Maxabella and Jarrah Jungle as well.

I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the work of the ACT Government's Business and Industry Development division, and in particular ICON (Innovation Connection) who help Canberra-based businesses develop innovative products and services.  Thank you for my Accelerating Innovation Grant! I will do you proud Canberra ....

Oh, and don't forget my give-away! Just say "hello" to me in a different language to be in the draw to win a Herbal Essences twin pack.

  2. Congratulations! That's a wonderful start to the year.

I read through Marci Shimoff a similar thing. Her theme word for the year is gratitude. I've decided Thankful is my 2012 word.

  5. Congratulations on securing a grant. How wonderful!!!

On the word for the year I choose OPEN. I think it fits perfectly. I need to be open to opportunities, freindships and open up our house to friends. Most of all I think OPEN fits well with my value from the SYL12 - authenticity.
