Day 1184 - Word of the Year

Happy New Word!

Rather than wish you a Happy New Year or give you a bunch of resolutions that I probably won't keep, I'm going to wish you a Happy New Word.

Last year a fellow blogger suggested we have a word of the year. What a fabulous idea! It was started by Maxabella and I heard about it from Jarrah Jungle.  My 2012 word was "focus".  In all situations over the past year if I needed some motivation, a reminder, a leveler, some guidance, or just a good old fashioned kick-up-the-bum I would say to myself "focus".  And I did. I focused and focused and focused.  2012 was a big year.

This year my word is WILL.  I think it is a strong word. It's an action word. It's a word full of commitment.

The words "plan", "goals", "resolutions" all have too many "out" clauses.  There are too many ways to trick the mind into believing in the excuses for why plans, goals and resolutions don't always reach fruition. But saying "I will" seems to have a teaspoon of cement mixed it.  It's concrete.  There are less maybes when you intend to do something.  None of this "might" bullshit. It's "I will" all the way.

Last year I had to focus. I had to stop dedicating my time solely to creating a vision, and spend more time focusing on the job at hand.  No distractions. I had to take action in baby steps and build.  It worked.  My focus reaped the rewards of creating a whole new business venture that was launched in June and which is currently on its way overseas.

This year I have to step outside my safety zone. I have to take risks and I have to stay strong. This year I need to be brave and be WILLing to take the plunge.  This year I am diving in the deep end and I WILL achieve results, I WILL create a legacy, I WILL find success and I WILL survive. There are no mights only a WILL.

This year I WILL.  It may be scary but I WILL do it.

WILL you?

Happy New Year everyone, and Happy New Word!

What's your word going to be?

  2. Will is a very strong meaningful word. So was focus! Great choosing. I think my word would be Change. Big changes this year, near kiddie off to school, new shed reno, new house extension. So Organise would actually be a good ones too.

  16. That's a wonderful word. My word for 2012 was Hope. And this year it's not much different, only slightly - Faith. I seem to forget to keep the faith and keep hope alive. If we don't have faith and hope, I feel like we don't have much. Great post. I am sure you WILL this year.

And for what it's worth, I think you are amazing. Taylah finished her Cheer Chick Charlie books in record time and then begged me to buy her the fifth! So get writing! ;)
