Day 1256 - Wordless Wednesday

Canberra Olympic Pool.
Canberra Olympic Pool
As Canberra celebrates turning 100 with all the extra events that go along with it, I thought I'd go back to basics and show you a Canberra favourite.  The Canberra Olympic Pool  is popular with the kids because of its diving pool which houses four spring boards (of varying heights) and a tower with a 5 metre and a 10 metre drop.

Derek will tell you many a story about the adventures misadventures of teens on those towers when he was growing up.  These stories may or may not include lost swim trunks, severe "winding" (as in getting winded) and some blood.  The 10 metre tower is mostly closed to the public these days but the others are open! Our kids love it!  Have a peak into our trip to the pool last weekend...

Some shade and the baby pool

The diving towers with the city in the background

The beach volley ball courts (minus the nets)

Low level spring boards

Great for learning to dive

Also good for learning your front salts

But for Mum is more about staying on dry land reading a book.

  3. When I was competitive Gymnastics and Trampolining (State and Nationals respectively) I tried a little bit of diving, and I loved it!! More so the spring board, the 10m tower NEVER enticed me that much!

But what I loved most was trampolining; and my favourite 'trick' was either the full in or full out (full twisting double front where the full twist was either at the start or finish (IN or OUT))!

Oh how I miss those days...

p.s. - It’s also saults, as in somersaults, not salts :)

Mines up as well at AussiePomm - A Photographers Kit!!!!

    Have a great day!!
