Day 1295 - Gladstone Art Gallery and Museum

We're running out of things to do in Gladstone ...

As we hang around waiting for the Grand-bump to turn into a Grand-bub we're looking for things to do.  We've been a bit nervous to go to the beach on account of the crocodile signs (which the locals pay no attention to given no one has ever seen a croc, so we've decided to bravely venture down there today), we've done the 360 degree Gladstone look-out and we've scoped out the very limited shopping options. We've taken Chelsea to her doctor's appointments and a trip to the hospital a few days ago because of suspected preeclampsia (there was a moment of 'conflicted' excitement that they may have to induce the baby, but it seems Chelsea is in good health so this baby is going to have to come when it's ready to.) We've also taken a drive around to look at display homes and new residential estates. We'll be going on a bit of a tour tomorrow with Pat to check out the industry side of things. We did our big Reef expedition.  What else is there? Well, there's always the art gallery.

A beautiful peaceful layout in the Gladstone art gallery

This painting was one of my favourites and so very "Gladstone"

Photos with explanations from the locals.  Some great shots here.

Another one of my favourites because of its Gladstone vibe

There were some really great pieces in here which excited me no end.  It wasn't until we were leaving that I discovered I wasn't supposed to be taking photos. You see the lengths I go to to bring you good blog?  Seriously law breaking stuff ...

Don't forget to check out the Deep Fried DVD giveaway.

Plus come and check out our Great Barrier Reef expedition.

Oh, and have you checked out Deep Fried Facebook yet?

  1. Looks like a great gallery to explore, and yeah there isn't too much to do in Gladstone!!

    When is Grandbaby due?

We used to live in Mackay and we were aware of the Crocodile Signs at the beach but never seen any sign on one! Mind you we do know of a guy who used to go fishing at night time...until his line was taken and he heard the baby crocodile call out to the Mummy Crocodile - he ran off that beach so very fast!!!
