Day 1515 - Mary Poppins

What helps the medicine go down?

I have renewed respect for Mary since watching the stage production a couple of years ago (thanks Mum).  I mean, it's always been a classic movie, but after getting up close and personal with the songs and dances I have now marked it as a supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus favourite. Guess what! In exactly 6 days time, Disney will be releasing the 50th Anniversary Edition of Mary Poppins on Blu-ray and you could win a copy!

Yep, the world's funniest nanny will touch rooftops everywhere next Wednesday 4 December in celebration of its half century.

Based on the popular children's stories by P L Travers, Mary Poppins has won the hearts of generations of children and parents.  We adore Mary and her foolproof mixture of good manners, unpredictable fun and a spoonful of sugar to transform the lives of two rowdy (and somewhat neglected) kids.

The movie stars Hollywood royalty Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews (in her Academy award winning role) and is a delightful mix of toe tapping tunes (come on ... admit it ... you know most of them) as well as live action, animation and some cool digitally restored special effects.

It's a great addition to any family movie library.

WIN WIN WIN

The best news is that Disney has partnered with Deep Fried Fruit and I have TWO Mary Poppins blu-rays to give away.  To enter, all you have to do is tell me: what helps the medicine go down? You can enter via blog comment, Deep Fried Facebook, Deep Fried Twitter #DFFMary, email or text.  Be sure to leave plenty of details so I know how to track you down if you win.  The competition closes next Tuesday 3 December at midnight and winners will be notified on Wednesday just in time for the movie's release.  A redraw will take place if I have not heard from winners by that Saturday.

What helps the medicine go down?

Admit it ... you're all singing now aren't you ...

  1. Ooh I would love to win a copy for my girls who haven't seen this movie yet! I am very lucky. My girls love the taste of medicine and even ask me for it when they're not sick! When I was little though, mum apparently gave me the medicine and then filled the medicine cup up with jaffas to chase the awful taste. That sure helped the medicine go down!

  2. In our household it's a spoonful of treacle & I don't mean the children. My Mother can't swallow tablets or capsules, so the strong tasting treacle works like a charm.

I would LOVE a copy of this movie thank you, & yes, I am singing.

  3. I was obsessed by Mary Poppins as a kid! I had the movie and the cassette, I must have played it hundreds of timesand driven everyone mad!
What makes the medicine go down these days is 'sleep', I am a Mum and have two kids and work, sleep fixes everything as far as I am concerned!
