Day 1534 - The Festive Season

How festive are you?

Turns out my festive season is getting "festiver" and "festiver" by the day - and to be honest, I'm not sure I can keep up! It's still 8 days until Christmas and I've got catch-ups and celebrations every day.  I woke up this morning wondering if I could physically keep up the pace. I also wondered how many brain cells I may be killing with all this champagne.

It started last Wednesday with the school cheerleading concert which ended in champagne.

Then Derek's work party on the Thursday which ended in champagne.

Friday was another school concert and Tahlia's photo shoot which ended in champagne.

Saturday we had a Cheer Chick Charlie show at a local mall, plus it was our super duper "christening of the deck" Christmas party with 80 people which without a doubt was always going to end in champagne.

Sunday was Tahlia's cheer squad awards day and pool party which ended in champagne.

Last night I caught up with friend by the lake which involved champagne.

Tonight is Derek's bowling party which will ... you guessed it ... end in champagne.

Tomorrow is the school cheerleading party which will end in Fanta (tricked you).

Thursday is a catch up with friends which will involve cocktails and will probably end in champagne.

Friday is Friday which always ends in champagne.

Saturday is our pre-Christmas Christmas with Derek's family which will no doubt end in champagne.

And on Sunday ... I may rest.

Then Monday I get in a car and drive to the farm in readiness for Christmas where the festivities will really begin.  My crystal ball shows me a hot tub under the stars with ... you guessed it ... champagne.

Of course all this champagne business is totally my choice ... many of these events involve no alcohol at all but I get home feeling so festive and celebratory that popping the cork seems like a logical next step.

Which has me wondering, am I the only lush using Christmas as an excuse to become an alcoholic?

How festive are you?

  1. Lol! Those cheerleaders sure love to party :) I have been to so many Christmas gatherings lately that I'm nearing exhaustion too. I have one more party before Xmas, my work one. It's a hard life, but someone's got to do it!

  4. I have barely been able to get through Monday and Tuesday of late due to Christmas celebrations and all the work involved in preparing for them.
It is totally all my fault (the amount of alcohol being consumed) but when you are enjoying yourself so much, you just get carried away don't you.
I think your time sounds like it has been a total hoot. As long as your body is still coping (as mine is not) I would keep going and detox afterward.

  7. I love champagne, so this sounds perfect! We just had a glass of wine, but as a breastfeeding mother I don't do a whole lot of partying in general. Christmas night I may indulge a little, and Christmas Eve my husband and I usually drink champagne. Have fun and drink plenty of water! xx

  8. Oh look I'm with you! I haven't had 100 celebrations yet, but I was thinking I just need to lay off it till sunday when the inlays arrive and it will be champagne o clock every day.
And so what did I do? Pour myself a glass of white! Self control seems sadly lacking unfortunately!
