According to Florida based facial plastic surgeon, Edward H Farrior MD FACS, sleeping on your back is the best thing you can do for your face.

By sleeping on your side or stomach you are getting deeper wrinkles on the side of your face that is pressed into the pillow.  Sleeping on your back doesn't put that extra pressure on your facial skin.

He suggests that if sleeping on your back doesn't work for you, then swap the cotton pillow case for a silk or satin one as these fabrics are far more forgiving.

Other ways to reduce wrinkles include:

  • Avoid the sun
  • Wear sunscreen
  • Don't smoke
  • Get adequate sleep
  • Don't squint
  • Eat more fish
  • Use moisturiser
  • Don't over-wash your face

So there you have it.  Some tips and tricks on how to look less Deep Fried.

I'll be sleeping on my back like a pin from here on in!

(It has the added bonus of keeping your bed nice and tidy so cuts down on bed-making time.)
