Day 1887 - Every day style for middle aged women

It's time to do some Deep Fried styling

Every day styling for the middle aged chick
The trick to this aging positively thing is to keep feeling fresh in the clothes that you wear without going all mutton-dressed-as-lamb in the process.   Dare to add some hip elements to your every day middle-aged mummy wardrobe without losing your sense of self.

Last night hubby and I went on an impromptu date.

I had been doing Cheer Chick Charlie business all day and the kids were with Nanny and Pop on the farm (after a matinee at the local theatre company).

Neither of us felt like cooking and it was raining (hard) so we decided to head to the pub.

What does one wear to the pub on date night?

Well, jeans of course.

I dared to step outside my comfort zone recently and bought some ripped jeans.  They're proving to be just the right "hip element" I need to keep me feeling fresh and somewhat on trend.

Target "The Modern" ankle length ripped jeans.
This outfit is a mixture of new in-season items and some back-of-the-wardrobe bits to keep it real.  I wouldn't be Deep Fried Fruit unless I had some Deep Fried clothes to go with it.

What to wear on date night to the pub

So here's the rundown:

  • Target jeans "The Modern" ankle length jeans with side zippers and ripped patches. Size 10. $30.
  • L.O.G.G NYC vintage look tee from H&M. Size M. $19.
  • Colette clutch in tan, cream and gold. $25.
  • A selection of brown bangles found in my drawer
  • Miss Shop jacket bought around 15 years ago
  • Candie's Vintage shoes bought around 10 years ago,
As for my face and hair, I did it all yesterday morning before I headed off on my Cheer Chick Charlie business.

I had started out with quite full and curly hair but the rain got to it turning into more of a boho style.  Boho is good.  It meant I was less Dallas and more Malibu.

Long loose curls for a boho style
The Deep Fried beauty regime

  • Washed and conditioned hair with Pantene.
  • Used Pantene Pro V BB Creme for Hair for the ultimate 10 in one treatment
  • Let my hair dry naturally
  • Sprayed with Tresemme heat tamer protective spray.
  • Hot rollers
  • Combed my hair through and added more Pantene Pro V BB Creme to drag the curls down and take away some of the fluffy texture
  • Herbal Essences Smooth Lovin' serum to smooth out the frizzy bits at the top and around the edges
  • Usual make up of Olay Regenerist CC tinted moisturiser, Estee Lauder Futurist anti-aging foundation, bronzer, Almay eyeshadow in bold nudes for blue eyes, Cover Girl clump crusher mascara.
  • Estee Lauder Pure Colour gloss in "Praline" (number 25)
I use the "Praline" on the far right
And that's it. That's the Deep Fried every day styling guide for middle aged chicks heading to the pub with the Husb.

Cheers!
