Day 1925 - Gungahlin Pond

Looking through a lens lets you see things with new eyes.

Ever noticed that when you fit a scene into a square how different it can look? Whether it be on instagram, on TV, or on your camera, it can look different to what you see with the naked eye.

It's like when you see movie producers looking at the world through a square they've made with their fingers to see how scenery will look on television.  There's something about looking at the world in chunks rather than an entire landscape.

I did this recently around my local lake.  It's a scene I see all the time and don't think much about, but when I chunked it down through my camera, I saw it with brand new eyes. Like a tourist taking in the wonders of a holiday destination, I got to appreciate the beauty of my local area all over again!

Seeing what is right in front of me with brand new eyes.

Proving that beauty is all about the lens in which we view the world.

  1. Yes! I know exactly what you mean. It's what made me love photography! I started taking photos for a 365 Grateful Project after going through a very stressful and unhappy time. I began to see things again, and not only that I saw things with new eyes through my lens. Photography is amazing for that ;-) x

  2. Its amazing how even cropping a photo down can change the look so much too. So many times I zoom in to crop my pics for instagram and it creates a whole different feel to the photo again.

  3. And in addition to this. Isn't the human eye just perfect? Like when I see a gorgeous sunrise or scenery shot and take a photo of it the image pales in comparison to what our amazing eyeballs see!

  5. Since I got my iPhone, I have fallen in love with being able to capture images ... as you say, it brings things into focus that you normally just flick past everyday!
