Day 2027 - Lovin Life

Life is for living ...

Now this is something I've wanted to do for a long time. I tried it once before and failed, failed, failed. It's not as easy as it looks! So happy I managed to get up on the board this trip without falling off.

A few years ago we rented a paddle board in Hawaii.  The kids could stand up on that thing as if they were stepping onto a table.  For the adults it was more like trying to stand on a mechanical bull ... mid buck ... in stilettos ...

It wasn't easy and ended in much frustration.

But during this junket we were able to hire a JUMBO board.  One that was big and thick and was more table than bucking bull.

Oh, we still struggled.  Some of us did better than others.  But the bottom line is I managed to get up two days in a row (with only one fall) and not only did I stand, but I paddled. I actually moved that thing through the water like a pro*.

Bucket list item completed.

Thank you Noosa.

*Like a pro who needed incredible concentration, with teeth gritted, all muscles in lock position and who would not be winning any speed boarding competitions.

  1. The kids just did this on our holiday - even the tot, who forgoed the paddle and just jumped about on it, in the surf, no less. I've only ever done it on a lake...lots of fun tho!

  3. We bought a stand up paddle board for our kids 2 years ago at Christmas. They are lots of fun and once you get your balance.. awesome for your core...

  5. I have a few friends that have boards and they all make it look so easy.

    It must be great exercise?

  6. I did it on a blogging thing a few years ago, but I'm so overweight at the moment my stomach got in the way of me leaping from crouched position to standing.

I wouldn't mind kayaking though. So peaceful....

Glad you enjoyed it. I joined you vicariously on your break and enjoyed the pics. I'm in Hervey Bay a few hours north of the Sunshine Coast so experienced similar weather etc.

  7. I'd love to trust this, but I'm the worst swimmer so if I fell off I would be in trouble! Good on you for ticking something off the list. :)

  9. I've never tried SUP and didn't realise it was tricky to balance! Will have to put it on my bucket list - would be good for a laugh if nothing else LOL
