Day 2032 - Into the Woods #DFFWoods

When was the last time you took a walk into the woods?

We did it daily just last week when in Noosa.  Although it was on a boardwalk and it was a national park, but still, I'll claim that as an "into the woods" experience.

Disney has taken a wander into the woods.  They've taken a bunch of family favourite fairytales and turned them into an award nominated film.  "Into The Woods" places a modern twist on several beloved stories exploring just what comes after the classic "happily ever after". It did super well in cinemas and now it's ready to be released on Digital, Blu-Ray and DVD on May 6 2015.

Best news is - I have FIVE COPIES to give away!

But first, let me give you the low down.

The movie is lead by an all star cast of Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Johnny Depp.  It was nominated for a bunch of awards this year including three Golden Globes and an Academy Award.

The tale begins with a childless baker and his wife as they try and escape the curse placed on them by the witch who lives next door.  The witch agrees to lift the curse but only after the couple go on a scavenger hunt and get her things like  a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn and a slipper as pure as gold.  So of course you're now entering fairtales like Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel.

So the story follows the baker and his wife as they wander off and grab all the bits and pieces they need to break the spell.  But it doesn't all turn out happily ever after.  Each of the people they've come across are feeling a bit disenchanted with life and each faces their own set of challenges.  Including the baker.

While many of the struggles throughout the film are overcome in the end, the characters (and the audience) are reminded to always be careful what they wish for.

It's a great movie and one that the whole family can enjoy.  It's rated PG and goes for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

  1. I'm not a woods kind of person. Bad things happen in woods.

  2. I recently went hiking into the woods at Springbrook National Park and it was such a wonderful adventure. When I run, I skirt the edge of the woods, which provides a lovely backdrop.

  3. Only last week for a spot of Geocaching, only there were snakes and ticks involved and I would much rather watch the DVD.
