Day 2076 - Eating at Vegas Buffets

How to get the most out of your Vegas buffet

There are lots of "all you can eat" buffet options in Vegas. There's a fine line between enjoying everything an international style buffet has to offer, and stuffing yourself stupid vowing never to eat at a buffet again.

Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your Vegas buffet experience.

  • Spend some time researching which buffets offer the best value you for money.

  • Check for coupons or any two for one vouchers.*

  • Once you arrive take a walk around the entire buffet and check out the options.

  • Start with light good choices and progress to heavy.

  • Take small portions of each (you can always go back for more).

  • Don't drink too much  (you can always do that later).

  • Try things you wouldn't normally try (this is a great way to taste the foods of the world).

  • It's OK to leave food on your plate.

  • Walk away feeling satisfied not stuffed.

Dinner at the Excalibur.
Start out light with salads, and seafood progress to vegetables and whole foods, then to your meatier options and
fried food, finish with dessert.

Breakfast at the Mirage.
Start with fruit, yoghurt or cereal, progress to lighter vegetable and international options, then to your pancakes, French toast and bacon, finish with bite sized dessert.

* The My Vegas Slots app is a great source of vouchers if you are planning to travel to Vegas. It's a free gaming app that allows you to earn points as you play "slot machines" on your handheld device.  These points then go towards different rewards that you can cash in for free dinners, shows and drinks.  We used one for a buffet dinner at the Excalibur which saved us $25 and one for the champagne breakfast buffet at the Mirage which saved us around $35.
