This week I give you ...  Pomegranate

Rumour has it that one single  pomegranate can give us 30% of our daily vitamin C requirement! Wowzers.  That's great for cold and flu season! But that's not all.

I won't go into too much detail, but just quickly, they are high in polyphenals meaning they have high antioxidant properties plus they are high in fibre, they have punicic acid and they are touted as an anti-inflammatory.

Research suggests that pomegranates can help with:

  • Heart disease prevention
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Cancer prevention
  • Digestion
  • Immunity
  • Libido
  • Youthful skin
  • Stress levels
  • Prevention of Alzheimer's
  • Teeth health (plaque prevention)
Eating it is all about the seeds. You can eat pomegranate seeds on their own, in yoghurt, on cereal, as a juice, in salad, on ice-cream, in salsa or even to create a cool new dip.

The pomegranate is a great little food to help us age positively AND it's currently in season.
