Day 2107 - Smores

How very American ...

My bestie in Pennsylvania introduced me to Smores many years ago.  They are made by toasting marshmallows on a campfire, putting a piece of chocolate on top, then sandwiching them between two "Graham Crackers".  We lit the fire last weekend and I just happened to spot a jumbo pack of marshmallows at the supermarket.  Match made in heaven! We don't have Graham Crackers so we used chocolate chip cookies instead.

WWW dot YUM!

Toast the marshmallows

Smores!

Smores - A great way to ward off the winter blues.

    1. It's not a very efficient fireplace nor is it 'environmentally friendly' but it does give great ambiance! Our house was one of the last ones to get a fireplace approved before new laws came into the ACT (apparently - was before we bought it).

    1. You really only need one. I had two but half way through the second one I was wishing I'd stopped at one. Quite rich!

  3. Roasting mashmallows by the fire is kind of romantic isn't it. We have a fireplace but it's too shallow to acually have a fire in it, using a gas heater isn't going to work.

    1. Nah, don't think the gas heater will work. Perhaps a campfire in the backyard?

  7. I love toasted marshmallows but am not sure about these ... and what is a graham cracker anyway? It sounds savoury rather than sweet!

    1. A Graham Cracker is hard to explain. Kind of a cross between a milk arrowroot and a ginger nut biscuit I think? It's a staple in the USA.

  10. Yep YUM indeed. We were introduced to them earlier this year when we were on safari in South Africa. We made them on the big camp fire and the kids LOVED them x
