Day 2109 - Pyjamas as daywear

Anyone else got some pyjama action going on during the day?

This picture from Brisbane's 97.3 FM popped up in my Facebook feed yesterday and I found it strangely appropriate.

Yes, it's true.  Sometimes I wear my pyjamas* under my clothes.

I know, I know. I come across all prim and proper with a big dose of  "must get dressed", "seize the day", "the early bird get's the worm", "you are a walking business card for yourself", "make the bed", "have a shower", "be prepared for anything".

But deep down, underneath those layers, it's highly likely you'll find my pyjama top.

I am very matchy matchy in many areas of my life, but when it comes to my pyjamas, not so much.

For bed I tend to wear a pair of flanny PJ bottoms with whatever t-shirt I may have been wearing that day.

This is particularly the case in winter.

Hell, I'll even sleep in my bra if it means not having to expose my skin on a cold evening.

Which means I wake up in a bra and top that also doesn't need to be removed!

I'll spray some deodorant under my shirt, throw on a scarf, add a jacket, grab some jeans and BINGO, I'm ready for my day.  (In case you're wondering, I do change my undies.)

So it's highly probable on the days that I don't have anything too fancy going on, I may be wearing my "PJs".

Take this photo for example.  Wore the top to bed the night before.

Something to note about this confession - I am also confessing to:

  • Wearing bras to bed
  • Wearing the same top two (sometimes three) days in a row
  • Not showering
I guess that's one of the great things about winter.  The layers are so bulky that nobody really knows what's going on under your clothes.

I think you nailed it 97.3FM.

Anyone else got some pyjama action going on during the day?

What's hiding under your winter clothes?

Are you skipping showers in winter?

Pooooo ... what's that smell?

*I use the term pyjamas loosely. Really I'm just wearing the one top for a very long time ...

  1. Ha ha ha love it! I don't wear my pyjamas during the day and I do shower every day. I feel like I'm going to have a bad day if I don't. lol. Usually a running bra on for me every day no matter what the attire. x

    1. My current favourite bras are a style of sports bra. I HATE an uncomfortable bra.

  3. You must have super comfy bras to be sleeping in them, it is one of the first things I flick off with relief at the end of the day.Now I am off to brave the cold tiles for a shower, I'm in close proximity to people today ...

    1. I cannot cope with an uncomfortable bra. Have found the perfect sports bras from KMart which I hardly feel like I'm wearing. I too showered today. Government meeting. Figured PJs may not be a good look ..

  4. Haha! What no one knows won't hurt them! Can't say I do that, though I used to wear a bra to bed until my husband started objecting! I do however get in my pajama pants the second I get home from work! Nothing is more comfy :)

    1. Agree with PJ pants ASAP of an evening. I've had to timidly open the front door to visitors at 5.00pm due to very early wearing of pyjama pants. In my defense I'm usually up around 5.00am so 5.00pm is kind of night time for me isn't it?

  5. I have done this when I've been really cold or I'm staying somewhere really cold. I actually wrote a post recently for another blog about winter pjs doubling as daywear. You look great by the way. I wouldn't have known you slept in your top. :)

    1. I need to read that post! LOL. And yes, the Canberra cold is my excuse for being feral ...

  6. Leanne, you look awesome! Love this confession..my current addiction is wearing two layers of socks. Give it a go…you won't look back, I promise. (#FYBF)

  7. Oh wow! I find bras in bed so uncomfortable. That said, I have no boobs, so bras are largely redundant anyway. Love your confessions.

  8. Haha! Nice to know I'm not the only one in this department. Anything goes in our household and double up for the next day - yep seems to be happening a lot now with babe #2 in the house!

  10. There's definitely a lot of lounge wear action about here lately. Our house is so cold though, I am showing twice a day to warm up.

  11. I'm not sure if my comment published before?? Apologies if this is a double up:
Awesome! You look a million dollars in that picture! I definitely skip showers (but I mainly blame having a baby and now toddler for that habit) and am definitely a fan of forgetting to put my bra on some winter days. I could never sleep in a bra though - that's hardcore :-)

    1. LOL. It is hardcore I guess. It's OK to skip showers when you've got babies. My babies are 11 and 15 so I don't think I can use that excuse ...

  12. I do the mismatchy thing! At the moment I'm wearing a pair of charcoal grey tracky dacks that I bought for $15 from Millers on sale. They are so soft and fleecy lined. I couple them with a plain black, v-necked, long sleeved skivvy thingy. I know - I sound like a fashion plate! I don't have pj's really - I mix and match stuff! I have been living in my slippers around the house and loving it! :-)

  13. I love my baths, so I have a long one every evening, but I do often just stay in what I wore to bed. Occasionally I'll actually put a different pair of PJ pants on during the day but that's about it. I will rarely add a bra and it's unlikely anyone can visit me unexpectedly as I live in a complex with security. I used to have a rule about dressing every day and I probably need to re-enact that I think!

  14. I often wear no bra but it doesn't make much difference. Pj thing is not me, I would change into trackies

    1. I actually don't own trackies. I have yoga pants but no trackies. Oh hang on! Yes I do ... my cheer coach tracksuit (it's very matchy matchy and I look a lot like Coach Sue on Glee).

  15. I wouldn't dream of wearing a bra to bed and can take mine off even if I'm wearing a long sleeved top. Lately I've been getting home from work and getting into my flannelette pjs at 5 in the afternoon. I'll probably be divorced soon ;)

    1. That's a good skill to have the removal of the bra through clothes thing

  16. I love getting the bra off and would say snap on the types of PJ's I wear. Any old top I have been wearing for the day and my flannie pants. But have to admit that I must shower at least once a day if not twice. Mel xx

    1. Twice! Definitely too cold in Canberra winter to get naked twice.

  17. Ha ha, I'm so glad I'm not alone in this! Some days it is just too cold to bother taking the bed t-shirt off and replacing it - especially if I'm just going to smother it with a jacket anyway! Luckily I work from home, so no one is likely to notice anyway :)

  18. I too have been known to wear the tank i was wearing all day to bed and then if it still "looks" ok wear it again the next day with something over it. I think it's ok. And if I don't have to go anywhere I have been known to shower and put clean Pajamas on for the day...or not shower....but either way .

  19. I can get pretty obsessed with my 2 shower a day routine but when it comes to winter, I will happily skip! Tracksuits are my favourite thing during these cold months. I happily wear them out too!
