Day 2178 - NSW South Coast - Our Surf Beach Retreat

It's school holidays which means we're back at the coast.

Nothing says "coastal" more than beachy pictures and shells.

We're lucky that we have our own little coastal cottage. It's situated at Surf Beach.

We went halves with my folks a few years ago.

We'd originally rented it out on the full-time market, but in more recent years we've had it listed for holiday rental. We manage our own rentals via Facebook and (just recently) Stayz.

We rarely use it ourselves because Derek's parents live down here. He obviously prefers to combine family holidays with crashing at his mum and dad's. But the plan has always been that this little jazzed up beach cottage would be our holiday house in the future.

Just a box on the outside yet spacious and open on the inside.  A coastal Tardis.

Well, the future is now.

Derek's folks have their house on the market so that they can downsize.  Fair enough.

So for the first time we're using our Surf Beach retreat with a "this is our house" mindset.  And it feels good.

The house is decorated in coastal hues to give that beachy vibe
We'll still be renting it out. We've got a lovely set of regulars who like to holiday down here and the extra income pays for the rates and utilities.  Plus Stayz is attracting a whole set of new families who are loving the comfort of our little beach-side home.

It feels good to share.  It's nice to pack the house out with games, books, boogie boards, activities, movies and cookware that other people can use.

The comments in our guest book say it all.  People are just plain grateful to have an affordable, comfortable and homey get away.

"Thank you for allowing us to stay here.
This place is not only comfortable, but humble and cozy as well.
We enjoyed every minute and will be back again soon!
Great value for money.
Thank you! (smiley face)"

It makes them smile.

That makes me smile.

I'm definitely smiling today.

If you're looking for a cheap NSW South Coast escape then let me know! We'd love to share ours with you. You can check out the Facebook page here and you can also book through Stayz here.  It's cheaper to book directly with us though as we waiver the Stayz fees.

As I type this the family is recovering from a morning at North Broulee beach.  We love to travel up and down the coast to find the best waves.  Tomorrow we'll stay at our local Surf Beach. It's only a 500 metre walk. We've declared tomorrow a non-car day.

Right now the kids are watching a DVD from the very extensive movie library.  An oldie - Journey to the Centre of the Earth.  Derek is in bed watching an old war movie and catching up on his emails. I'm at the kitchen table drinking a cuppa and writing to you.

Our little kitchen table where I blog.

It's bliss!

Hope you're enjoying your school holidays.

Contact me if you need a quick get-away.  I can highly recommend!

Happy World Smile Day!

A lazy morning reading at the beach this morning on this World Smile Day
