Day 2289 - Summer Beauty Essentials

Looking after your skin and hair doesn't have to be time consuming.

The summer heat can be harsh on our skin and hair.  So we need to up our beauty routine just a tad to ensure we don't end up looking too Deep Fried.

I'm not one to spend much time in the bathroom or in front of the mirror.  Comparatively speaking that is. Any beauty routine I have has to be quick, easy and fuss free.

Here are my "fuss free" summer beauty essentials.

Hair:  I wash my hair with Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal shampoo and conditioner and then once a week I use the "Intensive Hair Masque" just to make sure I'm looking after my long coloured locks. I literally slap it on while I'm in the shower and leave it for about two minutes before rinsing it out. You can get the Intensive Hair Masque for $10.99 from supermarkets and selected pharmacies (Priceline).

Hair:  Once I've towel dried my hair and combed it I slap on some Pantene Ultimate 10 BB Creme for Hair and blend it through to my tips with my fingers.  On non hair wash days I'll often pop some on the ends.  I'll also use it to smooth down the frizzy bits around my hairline when I'm wearing a pony tail.  You can get BB Creme for $10.99 from supermarkets and selected pharmacies (Priceline).

Deodorant:  Where there is heat there is also sweat! And where there is sweat there's gonna be BO.  I find the Dove range of deodorants are gentle on freshly shaved under arms and I also find they don't seem to leave marks on clothing.  I usually use the "Pink" one that supports breast cancer research but this time I opted for the "go fresh" pomegranate spray.  You can buy Dove deodorants for around $5.50 from supermarkets and selected pharmacies.

Face:  I start with the Olay Miracle Boost Youth Pre-essence from the Olay Regenerist range (which is designed for those of us who are of the Deep Fried age range).  I then back it up with Olay Regenerist Microsculpting Cream Moisturiser.  The Youth Pre-essence comes with a handy applicator that squirts out the exact amount you need for your face and neck.  It takes about 10 seconds to apply.  The Moisturiser is in a jar and that takes me around 20 seconds to apply.  You can get them both from supermarkets and selected pharmacies and cost around $40 and $50 each.

Face:  I use the Olay Regenerist CC Cream as my every day foundation during summer.  It's a 15+ sunscreen, a moisturiser and a sheer foundation all in one.  It also includes a complexion correction serum to help with that whole aging thing.  It takes me about 30 seconds to blend it into my face and neck.  You can buy it from supermarkets and pharmacies for around $53.  Chemist Warehouse usually has it for cheaper. I have also seen it online for around half the price. You've just got to search around for it.

Face:  At the end of the day I simply use good old fashioned TN Dickinson's Witch Hazel to remove my make-up and tone my skin.  With a make-up pad this takes around 30 seconds and leaves my skin feeling fresh.  Everyone in the family has been using it (including Master 12) as it's gentle on even the most sensitive skin.  You can get Witch Hazel from supermarkets and chemists and is currently available at the Chemist Warehouse for $6.00 a bottle.

Body: I am not one to use soap as I find it too harsh on my skin.  I do however like to use a mild body wash and I am loving the Weleda Citrus Creamy Body Wash right now.  Weleda can be found in health food shops and this body wash costs around $15.00.

Body:  Last but not least, I am finally starting to moisturise my body daily. It's taken me a while to get into this habit but I've finally found a product I love enough to keep up the daily ritual. With an easy pump bottle and the promises of firmer skin I'm lathering on the Nivea Q10 Firming Lotion.  It takes me less than a minute to smooth it over my legs, stomach, butt, arms and neck.  You can get the Nivea lotion from supermarkets and pharmacies for around $10.00.  For a big bargain head to Chemist Warehouse where you can pick it up for $5.99.

So there you have it.

They're my summer beauty must-haves which will have you looking and feeling less Deep Fried in just a few minutes a day.

Looking after your skin and hair doesn't have to be time consuming.  Or expensive.

You're welcome.
