Day 2331 - Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm - Product Review #Covergirl

A lipstick that's a gloss that's a balm that's a lipstick ...

My Covergirl Lip Perfection is part of my daily essentials.

A long time ago - possibly even a year or more ago - the PR peeps sent me the Covergirl Lip Perfection to trial.

When it arrived it came with a bunch of other aging positively stuff which I really needed in my life, so poor Lip Perfection got pushed to the back of the "stuff I'll try late drawer".

Over the last three months I've been giving Lip Perfection a good workout and I can now safely say it's worth blogging about.

Before I go any further, let me tell you about my beauty blogging.

I get sent quite a bit of stuff.  Well, not lots ... but enough.

I don't get paid to blog about these beauty products. I just use the products and if I don't love them, I won't blog about them.  As a positive blogger I'm not much into trashing stuff, so if it's on the blog then it means it's passed the Deep Fried test.  There's a whole lot of stuff that doesn't make it on here.

Let's get back to Covergirl ...

Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm
So Lip Perfection was sitting in the back of the drawer for a long time and then in the lead up to summer I started to use it.

The thing about the Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm is that it's kind of a hybrid.  I'm not a beauty expert by any means, but to me it seems to be the perfect cross between a lipstick, a gloss and a balm.

What I love about it:

For starters it comes in a cool pencil shape, so for non-beauticians the whole prospect of applying your lipstick (and getting it right) isn't as daunting because it actually feels like you're just colouring in.

Secondly it's not as solid or as dry as a lipstick. So you can feel made up without being too made up (if you get my drift).

Once it's on your lips it feels soft and soothing, without feeling sticky.  You can definitely feel a balm like quality about it. Apparently it has Shea and mango butters in it.  Anything that says "Shea" has got to be a good thing!

It does have some subtle shine about it, so you're getting that glossy feel without it being too "rah rah" and "look at me, look at me".

Because I have chosen a softer shade, I can actually put it on without using a mirror (much like a gloss).

Even though it looks like a pencil it doesn't need sharpening.  It twists up from the bottom just like a lipstick.

You can get it in a bunch of colours from soft and subtle to loud and proud.

I've been using the Twinkling Toffee for everyday wear which also holds me in good stead come casual night time activities.

The Lip Perfection Gloss Balm is perfect for me when I'm travelling because it's durable, it fits neatly into even the smallest clutch, it can be applied on the run, it can be worn during the day and it can be worn at night!

Would I change anything about it?

I'd probably like it to last a little longer.  It's definitely not a stay-fast lipstick, and it does leave a residue on your tea cup. However, that's the price you pay for having something that is soft and moist (as opposed to dry like a stay-fast lipstick).

As with all lipsticks the lovely shaped tip does disappear after a few uses. That may have more to do with the person applying it than the product itself though.

Would I buy it myself?

I would definitely buy this product again.  In fact, it's become such a big part of my everyday that I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do without it!

My daily essentials include:
Alex and Ani bangles, fashion sunglasses, an inspiring notebook, phone, wear anywhere earrings and Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm.

Where to get it

You can buy Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm at Priceline, Target, selected chemists and pretty much anywhere else Covergirl is sold.  The average price is $12.95 and availability of colours varies from store to store.

It seems to last a long time too which makes it great value for money. I've been using mine for three months and it's still going strong.

  3. I am a makeup prostitute - I don't stick to any one brand and I am not usually loyal. I always love new idea though.

  4. I will definitely keep this one in mind. I don't wear a lot of makeup these days but I like the thought of a balm/gloss/lipstick hybrid - perfect for someone like me that works at home but sometimes escapes to the great outdoors!!!

  5. I love my lip pencils! And you're right, it's just like colouring in rather than having to get all technical!
