Day 2348 - The Lovin' Life Linky.

Thank you for running water.

Our million dollar new Reece Mizu Gooseneck Tap.
Can I just say - taps aren't cheap!
On Friday night our kitchen tap broke.  It turned on and literally chose never to turn off again. Fascinating.

So because we're deficient in the whole handy-man/handy-woman game we did the only thing we knew how to do.  Turned the water off at the mains and called a plumber.

Of course we couldn't get a plumber that late on a Friday night so we spent the next 16 hours without running water.  SHOCK. HORROR. I'M A CELEBRITY GET ME OUT OF HERE ...

Little did we know that we could have simply turned off that particular tap from underneath the sink and left the rest of the house unaffected.

Instead we went into full camping glamping mode and lived with a bucket of water, a non flushing toilet and a pond in which to bathe in the back yard (OK, so it's actually a hot tub but we'll call it a pond for the purpose of this post).

So today I thought I'd declare that I'm lovin' the basics in life.  A roof over our head, warm clothes on our back and the convenience of running water. Especially that whole flushing toilet bit.

What are you lovin' about life this week?

If you're a blogger then feel free to link up a post that reflects what you're lovin' about life.  It could be a moment, a picture, a conversation, some food, a product, a dress, a hobby, an event, a place, a memory or a person - it's all about reminding ourselves what's good in our world.

All bloggers are welcome! Fashion, food, beauty, business, personal, parenting ... whatever ...

If you're not a blogger then feel free to use the #lovinlifelinky hashtag to tag instagram photos or tweets about the things that are making you smile.  You can also click on some of the Lovin' Life links below and see what else is in the blogosphere.  You might be able to add a few sites to your reading list! So much to love ...

  1. Oh dear. Well then, if you HAD known about turning the water off at the sink area then what would you have done for a blog post...!! I am smiling at this because I did not have to live without running water or a flushing toilet. OMG, the things we cannot live without (in my case the toilet!) Denyse

  2. I'm with you Denyse and Leanne - can't live without a flushing toilet... although I made do with a Portaloo in the backyard for 6 weeks when when renovated WHILE I WAS PREGNANT. Never again, I said! By the way - this coming Tuesday is World Water Day - focusing on being grateful for fresh running water!

  3. Sometimes we don't stop to appreciate how precious something is until we no longer have access to it! Clean running water is one of those things!

  4. Oh no! If only you'd known about the turning off the tap under the sink trick (I wouldn't have known either lol)! Oh well, it makes it a family adventure doesn't it? I'm Lovin' Life this week with my Sydney Trip photos post :)

  6. We had a similar thing happen and like you turned off the water to the entire house. We've just received notice that they are cutting power to our street on Thursday. It was my scheduled day at home filming with client catch ups in between which should make things interesting.

  7. I am loving that my husband is very handy and he would know that trick and how to fix it.
If our power goes out we don't have a flushing loo or running water (pump) .
    Glad you got through it.

  8. It's definitely a shock when things we take for granted disappear! Our house has rainwater and a pump so I really was surprised when there was no water when the electricity went out!!
