Day 2365 - Wynwood Walls Art Walk, Miami

A place where warehouse walls become giant canvasses ...

Today as we cruised around Miami South Beach we asked if someone could direct us to Little Havana so that we could get a taste for Cuba. They insisted that if we only had one afternoon, then we should head to the Wynwood art district instead.

We did as we were told and jumped in the nearest cab for the $25 fare to the land of graffiti.

When we first stepped onto the sidewalk we were quite awed by the colour that surrounded us.  Big old windowless warehouses had been transformed into giant canvasses hiding boutique shops, eateries and bars inside.  It was like a street full of colourfully wrapped gifts waiting to be opened to reveal the surprises within.

The Wynwood Walls square housed some of the best art I've seen in any gallery.

Come and take a walk with me to discover the magic of street art.

A collage of  two storey artwork found at Wynwood Walls

Ten-fifteen foot portraits to rival that seen in any portrait gallery around the world

There are a few lovely eateries you can visit to further absorb the vibe of the Wynwood district.

We ate lunch at the Wynwood Diner
The cafe inside the Wynwood Walls square also appears to have a good vibe and definitely has a great view.

If you're ever in Miami I thoroughly recommend you take a drive to Wynwood.  You'll find the artwork around 2520 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami.
