Day 2377 - The truth about being a soccer mum

I am one hot soccer mum ...

I wish I meant that in the Victoria Beckham how-does-she-look-so-effortlessly-cool-and-hip kind of way, but alas I am actually talking about being so freaking sweaty I feel like I've been permanently wrapped in Glad wrap.

When I set out on this Singapore soccer tour with my boy I had visions of myself reading magazines on the sideline, while sipping iced green tea and wearing crisp white pants with sensational sandals and great hair to boot.

Instead you can find me in my not-so-breathable supporters tee plastered to my torso, under an equally non-breathable cap, sitting on a cement grandstand in the sun for 8 hours drinking Gatorade in an attempt to replenish all those lost electrolytes that are being consumed through the very arduous exercise of breathing.

The cement grandstand made with ridiculous pebbled cement is actually a step up from the day before where we were relegated to standing in possible leech infested grass under a water laden canvass canopy.

I know, I know.  Toughen up Princess and all that.  It totally sounds like I'm complaining right now and while I kind of am, I'm actually not.  I am just saying that my vision is far removed from the reality.

If there's one thing I've learned on this trip it's that there's nothing glamorous about being a soccer mum on tour.

Now that I've come to terms with that, I can go about my day wearing very practical black pants, taking a towel to cushion my suddenly-feels-so-bony arse and with every intention of shopping for a muumuu.

I am one hot soccer mum and when I say hot I mean I am literally being steamed alive.

PS The temperature in Singapore yesterday was 37 degrees with an officially humidity registration declaring that it "feels like 46".

PPS  Pebbled cement makes even the most padded arse feel bony and despite it's potential to be gently massaging does not do for the bum what Masseur Sandals do for the feet.

PPPS  I think the term Yummy Mummy (if applied here) would refer to how well we taste once the cooking process is complete.

  1. Those team shirts are exactly why I don't shop online. I need to try things on and fidget in them to see if I'm actually comfortable!
