Day 2414 - Winter Styling and finding your signature style

What's your Signature Style?

Esprit Jeans, Forever 21 Boots, Wilson's Leather jacket, KMart Scarf, Coach sunglasses
Welcome to another chapter of the Deep Fried Style File.

After reading about Signature Style over at Agent Mystery Case, it got me to thinking about my wardrobe.

I'm not sure I have a signature style in summer, however it's pretty easy to pick me out of a crowd come the winter months.

I love winter for one thing only. The clothes.  It's the only thing that keeps me pushing through the colder temps.

I've confessed in the past to having a "winter uniform" which basically equates to jeans, boots, scarf and jacket.

I was very focussed on layering last winter, but this year I'm trying something different. I'm going for the longer top underneath (I am particularly attracted to tops that go longer at the back) with the shorter jacket on top.  Not sure if it's working for me yet.  Only time will tell.

FSW heeled ankle boots
Wilson's Leather (USA) jacket
Scarf from a local pop-up store
Long sleeve tee from Express Clothing Store (long at the back, shorter at the front)
Yammano handbag
My signature style doesn't change that much when I go from mum/mumager duties to client sessions and author meetings.  I simply ditch the boots, leave the scarf in the car, and add some heels instead.  I stick with the jeans but wear the darker denim or black for a more refined look.

Target heels
I'm not totally boring when it comes to the winter wardrobe.  I do get a little adventurous each year by adding a few new items.  This year I went for the poncho.  I am loving it! There may be more ponchos in my future.

I've also added a winter hat. You know, just to spice things up a bit.

It's not officially winter yet but it's just around the corner so the winter uniform is definitely being taken for a spin.

Getting an understanding for my signature style helps me to shop smarter and dress quicker.

There's less fussing over what to wear and more excitement over finding new combinations within a fixed theme.

I'm able to determine quickly what suits my body, my comfort level and my personality.

A big thank you to Raych at Agent Mystery Case and Beth at Almost Posh for helping me to understand that my boring old "winter wardrobe" isn't just a daily exercise of "same same" but more an exploration into my signature look.  It acts as a guide when it comes to my shopping trips and a starting point in which to experiment with other pieces. It's definitely a way to help us age positively.

Thanks ladies!

  2. I am not sure I have a signature look, maybe I do, I should ask my friends. I do love jeans and I love black leggings with a long knit for winter. I do love a good winter wrap, I brought a country road one last year and it is so warm! I also am known to be seen in a cute Beanie at school drop off lol. In the summertime I am a dress girl, I love a dress with cute flip flops or some ankle boots. I love your looks here, I love a good hat and your poncho is very cute! I really enjoyed this post!
