This weekend I will officially release the next book in the Cheer Chick Charlie series.
Book 8 - Let's Do This! - is ready to venture out into the world and in celebration I am having a party for some of my fans up on the Gold Coast.
Why the Gold Coast?
Well, for a start the book is set by the sea so I had always hoped I could have a seaside celebration.
Secondly, I'll be launching it at the Aussie Gold Cheer and Dance Championships who are big supporters of Cheer Chick Charlie so it seems fitting that I release the book at one of their events.
Thirdly, I have a number of fantastic fans up in Queensland who not only read my books and share my posts, but who also send me loads of fan photos and who take the Cheer Chick Charlie doll with them when they travel overseas for cheerleading. I feel very honoured by their dedication and given they're going to be on the Gold Coast this weekend I'd like to include them in my celebrations.
I haven't always had a party in celebration of a new book.
Of course I had my official Cheer Chick Charlie launch back in 2012 when the series was first published. But it was less about the release of the first two books and more about the launch of the business.
Books 3-6 were all just rolled out quietly without any fanfare. But last year I decided that every book I publish is quite a significant feat worthy of some cake. So I had a release party in Canberra and invited local fans. It was such a huge success and gave me so much inspiration, that I've decided I might continue down the celebratory path.
So anyway, that's what I'm doing this weekend.
Right now I am trying to organise the party from a distance and will board a plane tomorrow to head north.
Today I'll be signing books and sending out all the pre-orders so that my Fan Club members can get their copies in time for release day.
Will you be on the Gold Coast this weekend?
Would you like to come to the book release party?
It's being held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre at midday on Saturday 9 July. Email me if you'd like an invitation!
