Day 2470 - Why I'm loving the camera on the Samsung Galaxy

Welcome to Wordless Wednesday.

So today is the day we share photos instead of words.  But as you know, I am NEVER wordless, so you'll have to put up with some chatter around the edges of my Wednesday.

It's no secret that I am loving my new Samsung Galaxy phone (it's new but I've actually got the 6 not the 7 because I'm cheap like that).

One of the reasons I love it so much is because of the camera.

The camera is great for all sorts of reasons, but I'm most interested in the selective focus.

I've never had a fancy camera and I've always admired a person's ability to focus on the primary subject and blur out the background.  There's something totes profesh about it.

I think what I love about that approach is the perspective. The ability to fully capture what's right in front of you without being distracted by the background.  It's a pretty decent metaphor for life really.

So with the press of just one "button" I can change my photography mode from "auto" to "selective focus" and get a whole new take on my close up photos.

The following pictures are not perfect.  I literally ran around my front yard yesterday afternoon and took these pictures in less than five minutes, but it's enough to give you an idea for what's possible with a camera phone.

Perhaps we should all have a "selective focus" button to better capture the detail of what matters most in of our lives.

Do you have a fancy camera?

What do you love about your phone?

Which phone would you recommend for picture quality?

Any other Samsung lovers out there?

  4. It's got to the point that I don't use a camera any more. The only time my iPhone camera lets me down is at night, it doesn't take very good pics and the flash doesn't seem to be synchronised to the shutter so it doesn't help.

  5. Phones these days have such great cameras and apps. You still need the person with the eye for detail to capture the shots.

  6. I am fully in love with the camera on my new Samsung Galaxy 7 and the phone itself is excellent - now that I've worked it out, there's not much I miss about the iPhone.

  8. I love my Sony Xperia much for the same reasons. It has a 20.7 mp camera. I basically need to use it at the lowest setting or I need to downsize the pics for the blog.

I'm also one of the weird types that tends to look at the little things in the background that no one else seems to notice but I do love the background defocus feature just as much as you.

  12. Good shots. Still love my iphone6S for most day to day stuff and I apply what I have learned from photography lessons to that as much as I can. I take my other cameras out at times when I know I want get particular types of shots. Glad you are having fun!!

  13. I don't have a fancy phone, or expensive one. It would be nice for the clearer photos though.
