Day 2488 - The Lovin' Life Linky - Celebrating the wins

What's making you smile this week?

This week we are celebrating the kids school reports from last semester.  I know, I know ... we're a bit late.  I was away when our boy's report arrived and then our teen's went missing in the inter-webs.

But this week I managed to sit down and focus on the kids achievements at their new schools.  I can honestly say that their reports were glowing.

Now I'm not one to care about grades.  Neither of my kids are particularly academic. Although one is starting to show some real prospect in that area. What I care about is effort.  I care about enthusiasm.  I care about commitment.  I care about drive.  I care about being the best that they can be.

Their reports showed that they are indeed striving to be the best that they can be.

So last night we went out to celebrate.

There are plenty of challenges of course.  Their results did not come easily for either of them. Success takes effort.

As far as I'm concerned, they both get an A for effort.

So, that's what's making me smile this week.

What about you?

  1. I'm also about the effort. You can get all outstandings but if the effort is average, then it's not a good report. If you get all basics but a 1 for effort, then it's a great report. Effort is what it's all about!

  2. I totally agree with you Leanne. We just ask our kids to strive for their personal best, and compete against their previous results, rather than competing against others for the best marks. Getting the highest marks is definitely no guarantee of success in life, but being your best self is! :)

  8. My actual report grades were alright, it was the comments that got me into trouble! "Beth could try harder. Beth is a distraction to others. Beth needs to stop talking in class" . . . dibber dobbers.
