Day 2516 - The Lovin' Life Linky - The Fathers Day Edition

Happy Fathers Day!

If you are a dad, have a dad, act like a dad, are married to a dad, or want to be a dad, then today is definitely worth celebrating.

Our house will be filled with dads come lunch time.  We're having an extended family luncheon in honour of all the men who have fathered the motley crew that makes up our posse.

Alas my own dad won't be part of it.  He and Mum are too busy following the migration of the wildebeest across the Serengeti.  Sounds like a great way to spend Fathers Day to me! I'd love to be in Africa.  Definitely a major bucket list item.

But I'm not in Africa.  So the next best thing is filling our house with people who are all contributing food and drink so that I am not stuck with the cooking.  Then kicking them all out come early afternoon so we can nap to sleep off all that food.

No doubt my hubby will be turning on the TV for an afternoon and evening of football while we eat leftovers for dinner on the couch.  He deserves a lazy afternoon. He's a great dad.  Best dad I could have chosen for my kids, that's for sure.

Happy Fathers Day Husband!

Happy Fathers Day Dad!

Will you be celebrating Fathers Day?

  1. We're seeing my dad today - my husband had a dinner last night with the family (secretly we should have just gone out the two of us - but that's the reality of kids and being a dad, right?)

  2. Father's Day here is very quiet. We saw our daughter and 3 of her 4 kids yesterday for an impromptu lunch as they came up the coast for the day. I visited Dad last Thursday. One part of our family is unlikely to get in contact...too long and hurtful a story... Family life is a mixed one isn't it? Hope you have a good day today!

    1. It's sad hearing of family breakdowns. But then again, we can't choose our family nor can we control them, and there are bound to be fall-outs. Hope your Fathers Day was a good one! Well, you had more of a Fathers Week!

  3. No celebrations at my end as my dad passed away nearly 5 years ago. Sadly. And no partner either for me of course who happens to be a dad. My mum is coming however to force me to keep unpacking.... so there's that to look forward to. #sarcasmalert

  6. We had a wonderful Father's Day with a family picnic in the park where hubby and I were married. I hope your Dad is enjoying his African adventure, it sounds amazing!

    1. That's sounds lovely! We were supposed to have ours outdoors at a dog friendly river location, but with all the recent rain in Canberra we decided it might be too wet underfoot and the river might be too ferocious. So we did the last minute change to our house. 18 people in total. It was a GREAT day.

  7. We hosted Father's Day at our place as my Dad happened to be home from work and my sister was visiting from Darwin so we all got together for the first time in a long time.

    1. That's nice. It was the first time ALL of my husband's family were together in a long time. His parents, he and is brother, ALL the grandkids and ALL the great grandkids. A very special day for his parents.

  8. Argh, the present that I ordered online for Father's Day didn't arrive in time - so we are giving our Daddy his gift in a belated style this year :(

    1. Bugger! Oh well, it's just a date. You can change it ... Maybe Fathers Day can last a week?

  9. We had a pretty quiet fathers day. My dad lives too far away to visit and my partner was too hung over to make the most of the day!!

  10. We celebrated on Saturday night by going out for a meal with my side of the family. Then on Sunday, we went to my in-laws for a lovely late lunch. It was really nice and relaxing weekend. The kids made hubby some lovely handmade gifts (and he enjoyed the store0bought ones too!)
