Day 2547 - The Wordless Wednesday Birthday Album

Today I give you my birthday album.

My birthday haul.

Birthdays last a week in our house, but I don't need a week this year. I managed to get the best birthday ever packed into one day at the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and Spa.

An entire day spent with my husband and kids with nowhere to be, nothing to do, no projects to manage.

A full day spent lying around paradise with everything we needed in one spot.

Here is a peek into my birthday album.

 Breakfast Buffet

A day by the lagoon pool - which included snorkeling with the fish

Flora and Fauna

Afternoon Cocktails

Afternoon Nap

A relaxed outdoor evening meal at the Terrace Bar

The Marriott Surfer's Paradise is north of the Surfer's high rises and backs onto the river.  Rooms either have a view of the hotel lagoon and river, or a view of the city, ocean and river.

The Marriott is not cheap.   Rack rates for a family of four over a weekend can be upwards of $600 a night.  Depending on what time of year you book and how many you're booking for, the rates change dramatically with them advertising from $209.00 a night.

However if you book it through websites such as LastMinute.com or NeedItNow.com you might get a family room for $350 a night over the weekend.  A chap we met at the bar had managed this bargain which he was ver proud of.

The Marriott in Surfers Paradise is attached to the Marriott Vacation Club and if you earn a combined income of over $100,000 a year and don't mind sitting through a 90 minute presentation where someone tells you all the benefits of buying into the Vacation Club, you can get your accommodation for much less.  We got three nights in a suite for four people for $500 with an additional $100 voucher to spend on meals.  This took much bargaining by the hubster.  We also managed to walk away without buying into the Club.  Phew!

All in all it was a lovely way to spend my birthday!

  2. I love that you guys are mostly just vegeing there and not moving too far as I'd be doing the same... esp when staying somewhere that isn't cheap.

The lagoons and pool look lovely and it looks like a great spot. I'm glad you had a nice birthday and enjoy the rest of your stay.

    1. Haha. Yeah, my daughter chose the nail polish. A little "brasher" than I'd normally choose, but hey, if she thinks I can pull it off at my age, who am I to argue?

  4. I am glad it was made special by going away and enjoying sunshine, family and water. I hope you like Magda's book. I did and found her writing was a gift! I am also listening to her read it now via CD when I am driving to Sydney to see Dad.
