Day 2550 - A motivational quote that said exactly what I needed to hear

When a quote speaks volumes

I know that many people don't get into motivational quotes.

I do.

In fact, I love it when I find something that speaks to me.

Last week via the Lovin' Life Linky,  Denyse Whelan linked a very simple post that spoke volumes.

She left us with a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson on the meaning of life.

That quote up there really spoke to me.

So many quotes make me smile and give me the energy injection I need to keep moving forward, but this quote is more than that.

This quote has given me permission to keep on going.

Seems silly that a bunch of words by some dude I've never met from a time long gone could have such an impact.  I guess it's because I'm off to write another book tomorrow and I have doubts - this quote just came at the right time.

When I write for children I want to make them smile.

When I write for children I hope that Charlie will win their affections.

When I write for children I want to make the world a better place.

When I write for children I hope that each book can help at least one child feel better about who they are and what they have to offer the world.

To have done all that, it won't matter so much if my books do not become the global phenomenon I dream about.  To have done the above means I have succeeded.

Thanks Denyse .  Thanks Ralph.

You've just taken some of the pressure off and given me another reason to smile.

Have you seen a quote recently that has spoken volumes to you?

What quotes do you have up your sleeve?

  3. What a fabulous quote and so relevant to you and your books. I'm a sucker for an inspirational quote. My all time favourite is "winter always turns to spring" so even if things are really rubbish, something good is always coming because that's the law of the universe!

  7. I love it when you find a quote that really speaks to you like that. I've actually just started a series on my blog called 'Words to Live By' where I post a few words, whether a quote or phrase, that means something to me that week and try to use it in my life that week to get me through whatever problems I may be having.

  8. I love a good quote - and Ralph Waldo Emerson is certainly a master of them! Thanks for sharing this one Denyse :) I post a new inspirational quote each weeekday on my Seize The Day Project Facebook page. My aim is to inspire myself, and in turn, others, to live life to the fullest.

One of my faves: No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world - Robin Williams :)

  9. I sometimes stop and wonder what mark - if any - I'll leave on the world. Particularly as I have no children etc... I tend to think I won't be remembered at all. (And I'm not saying that for sympathy, but in all honesty!)

  10. I love a motivational post and there are not many I don't feel anything for. My favourite is "You can't lead a cavalry charge if you think you look funny on a horse". It speaks volumes to me on confidence and self esteem.

  11. I love motivational quotes and Emerson is so talented. I have a desktop calendar which has quotes every day and there's lots by Emerson. Today's quote reads: "Crying doesn't indicate you're weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you are, in fact, alive - unknown" xx
