Day 2651 - The health benefits of eggs

Do you eat eggs?

My vegetarian daughter has made a decision to eat eggs and dairy which I am very happy about.  Mainly because of that whole protein and calcium thing. She's never been much of an egg eater previously, but I'm happy to see her scrambling her breakfast each day.

I've written about the health benefits of eggs before, but I felt it fitting to add that new findings from the CSIRO show higher egg consumption is associated with having a better quality diet (according to Australian Women's Health Magazine January 2017).

Findings from the Health Diet Score suggest that we Aussies eat around 5 eggs a week which is good news given eggs are rich in protein and nutrients.

Do you eat eggs?

Fried, poached, hard boiled or scrambled?

  1. Ha, I wrote about eggs today, too. But a different variety! I'm on a low carb kick at the moment so loving eggs- so versatile!

  2. As it happens, I had poached eggs for break this morning! I like poached or scrambled eggs. I simply can't stomach fried eggs. It started with my first pregnancy, 21 years ago and it's the one thing I still just can't.

At the other end of the day, a yummy frittata is always delicious as well!

  3. I only eat about 1-2 eggs a week. My son on the other hand loves eggs and is daily cooking eggs up as after dinner snacks or breakfast or any time of day really.

  5. It's so funny that you've written about eggs today because only this morning I was talking to a friend about our favourite ways of having eggs! My favourite is poached. If I go out for brekky I love Eggs Benedict - yummy! I also love fried eggs and adore soft boiled eggs with toast soldiers (just a kid at heart)! Bonus that they are good for us! :-) xo

  6. I like eggs any which way but my favourite would be poached with a runny yolk.

  8. I go on and off eggs. Rarely have them at home but I'll order them for a breakfast or brunch if I'm out. Poached with runny yolks please.

  9. I used to eat eggs every morning for breakfast, but interestingly - since my weight loss surgery - I can't stomach them and they make me feel unwell. It's interesting as I was also allergic to eggs as a baby/child and didn't ever eat them until my 20s.

  10. I love eggs and need to incorporate more in to my diet. I'm about to start shifting towards eating less carbs and eggs are at the top of my breakfast list! I love a good boiled egg, but I'm also quite partial to scrambled myself. My husband has eggs on toast for breakfast every single day!
