Day 2730 - The Lovin Life Linky - The Frequent Flyer Edition

Hello Sydney (thank you Frequent Flyers)

Sydney by night
You may recall that we have a pretty good Frequent Flyer system in place.  We haven't paid for a domestic flight in years.

Ordinarily we would not fly to Sydney.  We'll always drive. But this week we've used our FF points twice for a quick dash.

The first FF booking was for me to join the Hubster for a little getaway while he was in Sydney for work.  The company he works for was already paying for his flight and 2 night's accommodation, so we decided that while ever we had a "free" bed I may as well jump on a "free" flight and join him. Knowing that my mum would pounce on the opportunity to hang with our kids.

Then the model daughter got a last minute call for a major casting. Ordinarily I would drive her up and back in the day, but given I was already in Sydney that wasn't going to happen.  So we dipped into our FF stash again and she flew to the Big Smoke on her own, then caught the train into the city where I met her at her casting.  We got to hang for the rest of the day before she flew back home.

So today the thing I'm lovin' about life is our FF program.

If you see my previous post about it you'll note that it's easy to rack up points.

Do you have a FF program in place?

Ever tag along on your partner's work junkets?

What are you lovin' about life this week?

    1. Yes, big fan of the QANTAS FF programme. They've been very good to me over the years.

  2. When I flew regularly (and we're talking about 15yrs ago!) I used to use my points to upgrade to business class!

Hope the casting appointment went well. Am sure it would have been a good experience.

  3. I know that many people do this too. I have never flown enough to rack up the points but good on you for using them so well. I've linked up an 'old' post today which still resonates... D x

  4. Yes I do, but it takes ages to accumulate enough points to get a free flight. I think I have enough accumulated to fly one way to Sydney from the Gold Coast at present. After we do our trip to Italy I might have enough to fly both ways! :)

  5. I save one up to use on flights to NZ or elsewhere when I'm feeling a tad like I can't justify the expense. In the past I've also used them for upgrades. Thank goodness for FF... #teamlovinlife

  6. I love your strategy and your opportunistic use of points. No, they don't add up as fast as they once did, but they do add up. Thanks for the link up :-)

  7. There's no frequent flying in our household but I enjoy those of you who can benefit from it! I was last in Sydney in June 2016 - so not that long ago. Melbourne is where I want to revisit - haven't been there since 2012. Adelaide - never been! Perth - never been! NT - never been! So many places where frequent flyer points would come in very handy to help me get to them! #TeamLovinLife

  8. Aren't FFs great! We flew to the US a few years ago using them. I love my hometown of Sydney so enjoyed the night time shot. It is always great to have a little getaway isn't it? Have a great week Leanne.

  9. We use our miles quite a bit---my husbands theory is if we have them to use them. You never know if things might change!!
    Have a blast!

  13. I don't seem to accumulate enough FF points to fly anywhere I want to go. It's great to see you taking full advantage of yours though! You go girl #jetsetter #TeamLovinLife

  17. Sadly I don't fly often enough - though I'm heading to Sydney myself for CopyCon at the end of the month, flights were $200 return so I thought that was pretty good. How long does it take to fly from Canberra to Sydney, if it's only 3 hr to drive? Half an hour?
