Day 2844 - A letter to winter

Dear Winter

Thank you for the time you've spent with us this year and for the efforts you've made to ensure your presence hasn't changed our method of operation too much.

While your annual visits are often difficult and bring mixed emotion, you've made a big effort this year to keep your visit light and colourful.  While your overnight presence has been cold and your mornings incredibly frosty, you've delighted us with your fresh, clear and bright blue sky days.

Allowing us to wear our boots, jeans, scarves and jackets is always a nice change and a chance for us to experiment with our wardrobes.  Giving us slow cooked meals, heat packs, Ugg boots and flannel pyjamas, while not overly glamorous, is incredibly comforting.

I would like to point out however that dawn exercise has been near impossible since you arrived as the darkness, fog and minus temps are not particularly motivating.  I'd also like to point out that your visit has cost us quite a bit of money this year as you gobble up our gas and electricity.

For some reason your presence seems to make us sick which isn't much fun.  Although I suspect that's more about us than it is about you.

All in all you've been a fairly decent house guest this year and I appreciate the effort you've made to ensure we're not overly burdened by your stay.

During this final month it would be great if you could do your best not to bring mud into the house.  If you could also ease up on the minus 8 mornings that would be awesome.  Oh, and if you insist on being that cold, at least give us some snow so that we can have some fun with it.

Regards

Leanne

  2. Hahaha, great blog! And it must be nice to have a milder winter this year. I'd say something about how winter will be over soon, but I don't want to think about how summer will be done soon for me.

  3. I actually thought Canberra was really cold this year? Brisbane has been glorious Leanne and I'm sure you almost felt like it was summer on your recent trip to Noosa. Have a great week!

  6. Winter has just made its presence felt in WA this week - great volumes of rain and lots of gusty wind - I'm over it already!

  7. Good to read about your letter to winter. However, I think that you should write a letter to summer season because it is really hot these days.

  8. I haven't opened my electricity bill yet haha. I left it on a LOT more than I usually do to avoid any risk of colds and to keep my throat better. I'm a bit scared :)
