Day 2868 - The Lovin Life Linky - Making Dreams Come True Edition

Today I'm making dreams come true.

OK, so I'm not single handedly making dreams come true, but I do feel as though I'm helping some people get a step closer to achieving their goals today.

The dreams of people I've never met:

As you read this I'm making my way off my flight and through the Sydney streets to the NSW Library where I'll be part of a judging panel for the AusMumpreneur of the Year Awards.

The AusMumpreneur network is a community of mums who are creating flexible home businesses for better freedom, family time, success and financial independence.

Whether you love the term or not, Mumpreneurs are becoming a force to be reckoned with as they prove over and over that business can be done within the comfort of their home while raising their family.

The AusMumpreneur community has become so big that for years they've been hosting annual awards events which tags onto their conference, to acknowledge and support the many new businesses being set up all around Australia by women.  Supported by  B.Box, Reckon, Optus, Google and more, the awards carry a bit of prestige with winners interviewed on Today, Sunrise, Today Tonight and Business Builders.

As a previous finalist, it's quite an honour to be asked to sit on the judging panel today to help give a few Aussie mums the kick start they need to move forward with their dreams.

The dreams of the people I love the most:

As I sit on the judging panel the model daughter will be making her own way to Sydney loaded to the rafters in the family fun bus with everything she owns, in readiness to move into her Sydney base today and tomorrow.

As you can imagine this move is bittersweet for all involved, but it is one step closer to her achieving her ultimate vision for her chosen career.

I don't even want to talk about the way my heart is feeling right now, but it is safe to say there is a big combination of heartbreak, pride, sadness, happiness, fear and excitement as I watch her make her dreams come true.

It's nice to know I've played a small part in it and by helping her move her stuff into her new digs, I'll be officially handing over the reins and resigning as mumager.

So today I just want to give a big shout out to anyone who is taking steps towards making their dreams come true.

Being a small part of it for a handful of people is what I'm lovin' right now.

What are you lovin' about life?

Anyone making dreams come true?

  1. What exciting times, Leanne! Congrats on being selected for the AusMumpreneur panel and best of luck to T on her big move. It must also be a bit scary handing over the reigns as mumager too... but in a good way.

  4. So exciting, huge, emotionally overwhelming & everything in between. I guess that's the thing about dreams coming true - scary, but so much to love.

  5. All the best for your daughter's big move. What a conflictingly emotional time for you! I guess this is really what we do raise our children for, hoping they will be strong, independent adults, happy and following their dreams.

  6. Big change for your family. I'm sure model daughter will adapt and take her career to new places :) I don't like the word mumpreneur because it excludes me, even though I have those same goals in terms of careers. I actually have a blog post scheduled for next week all about that!

  7. Aww, I remember that feeling so well. When your kids leave home it is a bitter sweet moment in your life, but you soon adjust. I have my sweet 27 year old girl home for holidays at the moment and I'm cherishing every bit of it. She has been making her dreams come true and I'm so proud of her. My own dreams naturally involve more travel! Surprise surprise!! #TeamLovinLife

  10. Well done you! That's so great :) You are an inspiration. And yes, letting go of the apron strings (or at least letting them stretch a long way) is such a bittersweet time. What is quite incredible though is the human way of adapting - I am now so set in my old ways that having them home is wonderful, and yet a little bit disruptive to house and routine. Never ever thought I'd say that! Making dreams come true - yes to you doing that on the panet at Mumpreneur :)

  11. Only having small children I can't image what it will be like when they leave the nest. I have so many dreams and I need to work on them to make them a reality.

  12. It's a big day for you - and your girl! I remember when my Miss 20 left home - can't believe it's been 2 1/2 years already. The good news is, we are closer than ever and I'm sure it will be the same for you and the model daughter too x

  13. Enjoy the Mumpreneur judging experience. I'm sure it will be great.

And I can only imagine these next few days will be hard. They will be bittersweet, but... at least she's not too far away and now with social media, mobile phones, skype etc you can stay in regular contact. When my niece was in China she and her mum texted each other all of the time! And skyped every day.

  14. Leanne, Congratulations on your appointment to the judging panel & best wishes to your daughter on her exciting journey. I've just started a small business start up course, which is the next step in fulfilling my dream to expand the blog into a business.
