Day 2925 - I think I might be going loopy

Totally absentminded.


I'm not sure this is the best photo for this story, but Halloween is coming up and my face did kind of feel like this
I've been doing some strange things lately.  Trying to screw the lid of a jar onto a drink bottle.  Wondering why my house key won't start the car.  Wearing odd earrings.  Almost washing my hair in body wash.

Perhaps the most interesting oddity was removing my make up with mouth wash. I actually used it over my entire face.  It wasn't until I got to my eyes that I realised something was amiss.  #itburns




Now I could turn this post into a "holy shit" style post about whether or not I should be worried about my behaviour.

I could research the signs of early onset dementia and run off to be tested for alzheimer's, but I'm not really sure I want to know the possibilities in that regard.

Instead I'm going to write it off as stress and absentmindedness.

It got me to thinking about other times in my life when I've done weird shit like this.

I do recall being in the USA around 20 years ago and grabbing for the toothpaste only to discover I was brushing my teeth with "Icy Hot" cream (which is basically the American Dencorub).  Again the #itburns hashtag applies.



I've also done the whole pouring orange juice on the cereal thing a few times over the years.

I'm sure there are many others that have escaped me right now.

Anyway, I guess I want to know if I'm alone.

Have you ever taken your make up off with Listerine or had orange flavoured cornflakes?

What absentminded shit do you do?

Please tell me I'm not alone ...

(Should I be worried?)

  1. You're not alone... I'm always doing things like that and take it as a reminder to take things a bit more slowly. Also my GP always tells me that if you can remember you're forgetting, it's not dementia, it's just stress! Perhaps you just need to take your foot off the gas and see how you go?

  2. I'm doing a bit of this too but I think I'm just tired. My daughter tells me to eat more eggs (or something that improves memory but I've forgotten)...

  3. Sure you're not pregnant? Or exhausted? That's what makes me put the cling wrap in the fridge and the sliced roast in the cupboard :D

  4. When I do things like this it's normally stress related and trying to achieve way too many things in too short a time!

  6. You sound pretty normal to me. When you brain is not organised then maybe it is trying to work out some sort of efficiency and that means brush with anything..lol #teamIBOT

  9. OMG, how did you gums not fall out?!? I found while pregnant I had massive pregnancy brain and did those kinds of things. I also did it a lot in the first few months of new motherhood while massively sleep deprived. Let's just say I wasted a LOT of milk putting it away in the cupboard and Dave was not impressed to keep finding my car keys in the microwave (good thing I never turned it on with them in there!).

  11. Lol. Ouch. I can imagine that mouthwash really would have burned! Yep, I do the mismatch earrings more often than I'd like to admit. I'm so forgetful and absentminded all of the time!
