Day 3004 - Lovin Life Linky - The birthday boy edition

Today I'm lovin' watching our baby grow

Birthdays last a week in our house and we're right at the start of my baby's 14th birthday celebrations.

This is the week the lad will get to choose what we eat, where we go and what we watch as he is King of the house.  It's where he gets to go shopping, get his hair cut and have his mates over. It's where extended family comes together again for another celebration.

He almost didn't happen you know.  The hubby had already had three girls (Natasha who passed away as a newborn, C and T) and wasn't feeling the need to bring another child into the world.  I too was quite happy with my one bundle of joy.  It was the model daughter at the tender age of 3 who begged us to have another baby, of which I was easily convinced and wooed the hubby to comply.

I'll never forget the day the ultrasound suggested we were having a boy.  After previously producing girls, my husband was convinced we'd be introducing more pink into the home.  As much as he loves his girls and would have welcomed another, he shed a tear of utter joy when his boy was announced.

Our lad is clearly one of the best things that has ever happened to us.  He's an absolute delight - kind, caring, funny, friendly, bright and a total gentleman.

He's got a big year ahead of  him too! He goes into Year 9 this year and it was officially announced this week that he was selected in his club's National Premier League team.  For anyone that knows soccer, this is HUGE news.  It's been his dream and he's worked hard to get there (and again, it almost didn't happen), so let's hope it's everything he wants it to be.

Because he's everything we had hoped he'd be (and more).

That's what I'm lovin' about life this week.  The celebration of my baby boy as he turns a year older.

What are you lovin' about life this week?

Any birthdays in your sphere?

How old is your "baby"?

PS: When I talk about "babies" feel free to include fur babies, nieces, nephews and any bundles of joy in your world.

  3. Happy Birthday to your gorgeous boy Leanne. What a fabulous achievement for him in soccer too! My baby is now 15 and towers over me (he's around 6'2" and counting!). He's growing so quickly, we had 3 sets of school uniforms last year, bless him. #TeamLovinLife

  4. I love stories like these. Happy Birthday Week to your son and congratulations to him on his inclusion in the Premier League team. My 'baby' is the 2nd child and son we were told we could never have...and he is 39 next week. The person in the photo in my link up is my Dad and today he is 94 and I am going to Sydney and taking a mini-morning tea with me. He no longer wants a 'fuss' made for his birthday as the big bash we gave him for 90 was wonderful and overwhelming all at one. He is well, despite a bout of shingles recently, and he will enjoy some of my homemade goodies today (and there are plenty for the freezer!). Have a wonderful week yourself Mama!! Denyse x

  11. Happy birthday to your "baby"! Meeting up with you was a highlight of our Canberra trip for me, thank you so much for the coffee and catch up. It was my birthday on Sunday and we went to the Old Bus Depot Markets - only to discover they were CLOSED!!!! This, when all the advertising material assured us they were "open every Sunday" - and on my birthday as well - humph!!!!

  13. Your kids are adorable. I love my son to death. He is the most affectionate loving boy and he is 29 years old! We barely go a day without speaking or texting. However my daughter is the baby, at 27 years old, but she lives a few hours away and is a doctor so it often too busy to talk or catch up. Our new fur baby, Stella, our 20 month old black lab is bringing us much joy and is our substitute child!

  16. Happy Birthday. Sounds a bit like you have a birthday week, which is what we call it in our family where the birthday boy, girl, man, woman gets their way and no one can say otherwise. I'm pushing for a birthday month but haven't gotten my way yet x

  17. Wow, congratulations to your son on his amazing sports achievement. Even though he's nearly 18.5yrs, he will always be my very special baby. It took 3yrs of heartache and lots of invasive prodding and poking by medical professionals before I got to hold him in my arms.
