Day 3107 - Kosmea - Skincare as nature intended

Have you heard of Kosmea?

Kosmea is an Aussie brand created by an Aussie woman who, when experimenting with her own face masks at home, discovered the powerful benefits of rose hip oil.  She believed in the results so much that she sold the family car to get the capital she needed to get her business off the ground.

Marie bought her first drum of rose hip oil in 1993 and sold 4000 bottles of her first product within six months.  BINGO! Marie has never looked back.

"When I started Kosmea my aim was to change the way people treated their skin. I wanted to be able to give every person the opportunity to have the healthiest skin they possibly could. It gives me so much satisfaction to hear back from customers who have used Kosmea and seen the benefits. It's the best part of my job!"

Marie and her team sent the teen daughter and I a selection of Kosmea products to trial back in February.  After using the products for the past two months we can safely say that rose hip based products now sit front and centre in both bathrooms.

What is rose hip oil?  It's the fruit oil extracted from the fruit that is left after a rose has bloomed and the petals have dropped.

The Kosmea organic rose hip oil is extracted from wild rose hips in Lesotho, South Africa, and contains over 80% essential fatty acids with high doses of Vitamin A.  They use the fruit, skin and seed for added vitamin content.  Clinical studies suggest that rose hip oil can reduce scars, wrinkles and restore skin tone and elasticity.

While we received a whole selection of Kosmea products (and we've tested all of them) we both have our selection of faves.

"I absolutely love the Hydrating Rosewater Mist.  It sits on my bathroom sink and I use it after my skin care routine to feel fresh and revitalised. I also use it randomly throughout the day to freshen up and give my skin a boost.  What I love most is that it's natural and makes my skin feel soft, clean and fresh."

According to the Kosmea information booklet this mist is made with a thousand delicately distilled rose petals.  It refreshes, balances, soothes, hydrates and tones the skin. It is also good for setting your makeup.

To create the rose water they steam-distill the crushed petals of roses to produce Rose Oil, then create the rosewater out of the left-overs. It's a by-product of the Rose Oil process which means no part of the flower goes to waste.

Deep Fried Fruit

As a deep fried woman of the world I went straight for the wrinkle fighting products.  While I also adore the rosewater mist (it sits on my bedside table and I use it to give myself a fresh start to each day and a soothing end to each evening) I am also very fond of their "Eighth Natural wonder" facial serum and their tube of Replenishing Moisture Cream.

As I slide precariously close to the edge of 50, these products are becoming more important than ever if I want to retain my "fit and fabulous" tagline.

The Eighth Natural Wonder revitalising serum provides skin with protection against free radicals to help fight the visible signs of ageing.  According to the brochure it's clinically proven to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by  up to 26% in just three weeks.  Yep, it does seem to be magic.  So magic in fact that it was a "Natural health Winner" in the Natural Beauty Awards in 2013.  It contains Myocinol which is naturally derived from hibiscus seeds, as well as Rose Hip Oil, green team extract, pea extract and rose geranium oil.

The Replenishing Moisture Cream is an antioxidant rich formula with white tea extract and vitamin A.  It is said to be intensely hydrating, protects from the damage of those damn free radicals and improves skin tone and texture.  It contains Rose Hip Oil, white tea extract, carrot oil, hydrolift Cassia extract, aloe vera, nettle extract and shea butter.  Sounds good yeah?  I've been using it on my face as well as my neck, hands, lower arms and elbows.

What we both love about these products is that they smell fresh.  The Rose Hip comes through strongly and smells completely natural.

Kosmea pride themselves in having no mineral oils, no artificial colours, no petrochemicals, no artificial fragrances, no SLS/SLES and no animal ingredients. Plus they're not tested on animals and all packaging is recyclable.  Totally vegan. Another big tick in our books - especially for the teen daughter.

The other thing we both like is that it's owned and run by an Australian family and operated in Australia.

I personally love that there is a back story of a strong woman who believed in her products so much that she made the sacrifices needed to turn her vision into a reality.

Kosmea has a huge range of products. In addition to the Daily Skincare range pictured at the top of this post you can also find their Rose Hand and Body Range as well as their Gift Collections.

Check out their website at www.kosmea.com as well as all of their social media channels including Facebook, Istagram, You Tube, Twitter, and Pinterest.

  1. I must admit I have always love a hydrating mist. It's like I can feel my skin dehydrating and a mist spray perks me up overtime.

  11. It looks like a lovely product - I'm a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to buying skincare products, but I realize I'm going to have to lift my game as my skin continues to age.

Thanks for linking up with us at #MLSTL and I've shared this on my SM xx
