Day 499

Every man is the builder of a temple called his body.

- Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)

It's Thursday .... all day in fact ... so it's time to reflect on all things health and fitness. Mind, body and soul.

As I type this I have a headache, which is definitely not a good start to a healthy day.  To be honest I think it has arrived due to lack of water, and because I generally have had a frazzled week.  Good frazzled, not bad frazzled. Is there such a thing?

I've spent much of the last week getting a new cheerleading structure up and running.  But before you reprimand me for lack of relaxation, it's all for a good cause and to flick the switch to create an enormous glowing light at the end of the tunnel.

Last year we had 90 competitive cheerleaders and only 3 coaches.  Those three coaches also assistant coached, worked as squad managers, coordinators, liaison officers and administrators. All on a volunteer basis. By the end of the year we were exhausted. Absolutely shattered in fact.  But it was something that needed to be done to prove that it could be.  To get the kids in, to create spirit, joy and good self esteem. To give these kids something to feel proud of and strive towards.  Good physical and mental health.  Anyway this year we've set up an entire structure and advised all involved that if we couldn't fill all the positions, cheer quite simply wouldn't be run.  So all the hard work (and resulting headaches) this week has been worth it. I am pleased to announce that we now have a strategic plan, succession planning in place, plus 7 coaches, 4 assistant coaches, 4 managers, 2 administrators, a uniform coordinator and a make up coordinator.  How's that for progress!!!  So while I'm a little worn out this week I can now sit back and watch it all happen around me.  I have climbed an enormous mountain and I can now sit at the top and look at the beautiful view with loads of cheerful kids dancing in the breeze.  So one little headache is kinda worth it ...

Let's see how I went this week:

Reading - new book on the power of women
One session this week of self growth exercises
To do lists
Vision board
Daily gratitude and celebration of the day that was

Belief that anything is possible if you want it bad enough

Fitness:  3 gym sessions this week (body combat, gym workout, pump), cheer session
Diet:  Kept up the fruit and vege intake, remained free of bread and pasta, took away alcohol during week nights.  Ate fruit and yogurt for breakfast, salads for lunch. Continued with "Fit for Life" methodologies  concentrating on food combinations.  Continued with fibre supplement.  Kinda forgot to take my vitamins.
Health: Had blood tests and await results.
Relaxation: Had a very relaxing weekend, but completely forgot to relax during the week (as per above). But that changes today ...

Weight: Lost 0.7kg this week.  I had actually lost 1.2kg at one point, then I got too happy about it all and went back to ice cream, and creamy potatoes and lollies. Bugger.

Painting. On the weekend I started some canvasses for Mum's family room.  Painting when you are fully relaxed and in the zone is great soul therapy.
Writing my Valentine's message for Husband.
Rejoicing in the growth of cheer and being able to hand it over to the new structure of very willing and wonderfully helpful parents.
Knowing that I can go back to coaching just one team (my daughter's), one night a week.  Gratitude.

Not a bad week all in all. How did you go?

  1. Wow you are one busy lady.
Hope the new Cheer regime works smoothly - what a mammoth task.
I love it when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"Daily gratitude and celebration of the day that was" ...I forget to do this !
Belief that anything is possible if you want it bad enough new mantra !

  2. What a well-rounded week you have had! A good weight loss and some fabulous treats for the mind and soul. I don't know a thing about cheerleading, but I do know that one team is enough for anyone. That will be a great move for you x

  3. Congratulations on your weight loss this week! Overall, it sounds like you had a great week. Keep up the good work!

  4. I love your mind body soul approach, mine is clinical compared to yours. I am in for the short haul to get it off (or lifetime too keep it off). Good Luck. Keep up the awesome work!

I love hearing your thoughts! Keep them rolling in :)
