Day 579

It's Mothers' Day! And I am sitting up at the breakfast bar sneaking this in before my family demand I go back to bed.  They have plans for me ... all day.  Apparently it will start with gifts and a cooked breakfast (in bed) and then we are going for a family bike ride.  After that we're going to drive up a nearby mountain and check out the view (and breathe) before heading out for lunch by the lake.  If that's not enough we are then having champagne and hors d'oeuvres which will include my folks as they drive through Canberra after spending the day with Nanna.  Sounds like it is going to be a great Mothers' Day!! Woot woot.

Whether you are a Mum or not, there is a lot to celebrate today.  It's a day to celebrate the women in our lives who have touched our hearts - those who have cared for us when we feel helpless, those who have comforted us when we are hurt, those whose love and care we often took for granted.  Today let's also spare a thought for those who are grieving the loss of their mother, those who never knew their biological mother and perhaps yearn for her, those who have experienced the wonder of an adopted mother/child's love and for those people who are separated from their mother/children because of family conflict or war.  ***

There's lots to celebrate and lots to think about today.  There's lots to keep us united.

Happy Mothers' Day!

*** The paragraph above is an adaptation of a prayer for mothers.
