Day 1104 - Look good, feel brave

Today I am cleaning out my accessories and hoping to donate them to women in need.

For one reason or another the whole concept of women in crisis has been on my mind.  I am not a woman in danger and it saddens me that loads of women and kids are.

As I contemplate my next handbag purchase from Colette I realise how selfish and excessive that seems for someone who already owns around 20 handbags.  As I stared at my handbag collection this morning I realised I may actually be a handbag hoarder and that these accessories of mine could be put to good use.  I love handbags because they make me feel good.  What if something as simple as a new handbag could help someone else feel good too?

So today I am cleaning out my bags, sunglasses, jewelry and other accessories and have started making contact with  local women's refuges to see if my pre-loved bling might help a few women start their new lives with confidence, power and a touch of bravery.

Today I am grateful for handbags.  But most of all I am grateful that I am loved and I am safe.

What are you grateful for?

For more living in the attitude of gratitude you can join Maxabella over at Kidspot's Village Voices.

If you are a woman in need of support you can contact your local Office for Women or Women's Referral and Information Centre.  Most Australian cities have centres that offer free and confidential support to help women make informed choices and achieve self-determination.

  1. I'm grateful for being in good health to work this weekend. I have been very blessed with this pregnancy.

  2. I too am saddened by the number of women in our communities who are victims of domestic violence and don't feel safe in their own homes..and of course for their kids too. It is an intolerable situation but I am glad that even small things can be done to give some of these women some extra confidence. Inspiring post!

I love hearing your thoughts! Keep them rolling in :)
