After many weeks of waiting, our Chelsea gave birth to a beautiful baby girl yesterday. We will not get to hold her for quite a while given they are a 24 hour drive from us, but we are getting to savour her sweetness through hourly photos and it won't be long before we'll meet her on Skype. No, it's not the same as touching and smelling her, but it will have to do.
Today I am grateful for a healthy baby, smart phones with cameras, a good hospital system, Skype and the beauty of a brand new person named Lola Natasha. And while I was initially claiming "grand parent immunity" because of the whole "I'm not old enough" thing coupled with the excuse that Chelsea is "not my biological daughter" and the fact that "I couldn't possibly be a grandparent yet as my own kids are too young" (yes, it was a Deep Fried mental crisis of mammoth proportions), I'm now embracing it completely. Of course Chelsea is my daughter, which makes Lola my granddaughter and the grandparent experience is all too beautiful to have it any other way.
congratulations Grandmother!!

you look too young to be a grandmother!! :) Congrats on the arrival of the newest member of your family.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for Skype! My parents in law live in the UK and our girls have only met them a few times in read life, but you know, they have a great relationship with them anyway because of Skype! Congratulations on becoming a grandmother, and enjoy it!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Chelsea and Patrick (before I starting typing I was sure that was his name but now I'm doubting myself - sorry if I'm wrong) and to you, Derek, C and D on the newest member of your family.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! Embrace grandparenthood and get in as many squishy baby cuddles as you can when you do meet her in real life!
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful news, Leanne. I can't believe you're a grandmother and even with the proof of Lola, I still won't believe it!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Chelsea and Lola. x
