I don't think it comes as any surprise that music energises us. It's also no surprise that unless we are in a "fight or flight" situation, we are naturally predisposed to approaching life at a walk when it comes to physical activity.
It's adrenalin and motivation that takes us from walk to run, and from sitting to sit-ups. But now the researchers have evidence to support the fact that music could be the secret to motivating us to walk, run and work out harder. So that being said, I need to get my playlist together.
I am thinking it will include Will.i.am, plenty of Pit Bull, some INXS, Prince and possibly some ACDC. I might throw in some P!NK, Katy Perry and Gaga as well (just to give the ladies a run). Oh, and of course no playlist would be complete without Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger". What else could I include?
Tell me, what's on your playlist?
What songs motivate you physically?
No - but before a marathon my partner will put together the play list, with certain music at the tougher points....
ReplyDeleteThe other day I was walking and Vanilla Ice' "ice ice baby" came on my iPod and I really felt the need to start dancing. Clearly showing my age!
ReplyDeleteOh once you are done with your playlist I would LOVE to read about it., I'm always on the hunt for the perfect playlist! And always chopping and changing to keep my run interesting, motivating and "powerful"
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I am LOVING 'The Other Side' by Jason Derulo
Absolutely! I have about ten different ones that I use - it depends on my mood which one, but all of them are very rocky. Think Bon Jovi, Guns n' Roses, Def Lepard, Alanis Morrisette, Powderfinger, Foreigner, INXS and P!nk. :)
ReplyDeleteI was actually doing this last night. Have you discovered GTunes yet? It is an amazing app, you just add the songs you want to your playlist and you are done. Have fun putting it together!
ReplyDeletePlease write down your complete playlist too! I've been looking around for some inspirational music to run to but I'm kinda stuck haha.. definitely some Black Eye Peas and Pink for me too ;p
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
This reminds me to update my playlist, it has been a long time and it is getting a little boring. I am loving a lot of the newer boppier stuff for this purpose :)
ReplyDeleteSadly, I have no playlist - but have started to listen to music more so these day and it is incredible how my spirits lift when I do! Love that pic of you on the Canberra Weekly!
ReplyDeleteJosefa from #teamIBOT xx
I definitely find myself more motivated and ready to move with some danceable music on the iPhone. My playlist would include Jamiroquai, Black Eyed Peas, Kylie Minogue and lots of 90's dance tunes!
ReplyDeleteI have playlists for everything. Running, dinner parties, cooking dinner, cleaning etc. Rachel xx
ReplyDeleteWhen I did exercise it was hard core dance party music! Just to keep me going! But it's been awhile since I've listened to any :)x
ReplyDeleteI have a long playlist for running my fave songs right now are:
ReplyDeleteInner Ninja - Classified feat David Myles
Alive - Krewella
Haven't Had Enough - Marianas Trench
I Love It - Icona Pop
My Songs Know What You Did - Fall Out Boy
#thatPower - will.i.am
Tonight Tonight - Hot Chelle Rae
I also have P!nk, Maroon 5, Linkin Park, LMFAO, Katy Perry, Katy Perry, Kardinal Offishall, T.I. Britney Spears, Beyonce, Cake, David Guetta, among others. :) I like my running tunes fast, fun, and sometimes with explicit language. Not a playlist to play in the car with the kids present that's for sure.
No playlist, but when I was exercising it definitely helped to have upbeat music.
