Day 1630 - Radio Active in Googong

There was Radio Active activity near the ACT yesterday.

If you're a Googonian you probably don't want to hear that it's radio active in Googong. It's true ... there was a Radio Active event in the NSW Googong area. The good news is that Radio Active is the name of a band and the event was a party to showcase the band and raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation.

A good friend of ours, Herb McEachin, plays bongos in this super cool group of 50+ year olds who get together once a year to entertain their friends at a lovely rural property on the outskirts of Queanbeyan.  For the cost of a donation they play three sets over three hours. Nibbles and a sausage sizzle are provided, plus there is a bar set up and Radio Active merch for sale. The crowd is filled with families, young guns, middle aged folk and retirees. We took a car load, pitched our 'cabana', opened the esky, threw a soccer ball in for the kids and settled in for a night of music, drinks and banter. Some people camped, but we had kids so decided to head home. Great night had by all! We're definitely going to do it again next year ... Dressed head to toe in our newly acquired Radio Active merch.

Ps. Hope I haven't offended anyone with 50+ comment. No idea of ages and to be honest I didn't assess the dynamics of the band too closely. Too busy dancing!
